As I said in the original post, this is basically the best thing that ever happened, and frankly I stand by that. I know those two had a baby and that other one climbed Mount SomethingTall and grew a wicked beard this year, but still.

2013 was also, of course, the year that Kate got ogled by a creepy pirate.

As well as the year that William's friend Handsy von Bold got snapped pinching the Royal Ear.

Ping pong was played!
So was volleyball. (Having a baby did not affect her vertical)

"High five, Kate. HIGH FIVE."
I just stuck this in here because I really, really love this dress and I want it for my own. Nothing says "Happy New Year!" like, "let's all covet this expensive item that's probably no longer for sale!"
Aw. This was fun.

Double aw.
George already looks like a cranky little monarch. A cranky little monarch whose cheeks I, admittedly, want to eat.
Zara Phillips wore hats to the races and made this face, which I can only assume is a reaction to her horse failing to win her any scratch.
This is clearly the Lesser-Known Blonde Royals In Hats section of the slideshow, but it must be said that Sophie Wessex -- Mrs Prince Edward -- looks crazy glam in this get-up, worn at Easter.

2013 was also the year Prince Harry went to Antarctica with Alexander Skarsgard -- please, someone write that fanfic! -- and grew an amazing beard and attended a variety of sporty events where he sat around airing out his royal junk.

In which Prince Harry is VERY excited to be playing t-ball. You can come hit balls around the US any time you want, good sir.
King Willem-Alexander got sworn in as the new king of the Netherlands in 2013 (when his mother stepped down, presumably to spend more time gardening or some such). Queen Maxima looked fabulous in a Gwyneth-at-the-Oscars-esque cape/dress combo and a MAJOR tiara.
Princess Madeleine of Sweden married Christopher O'Neill and everyone looked very happy and her dress was very lacy and pretty and the wedding gave us all kinds of good royals gossip, just as we like it.

This is a very cute way to leave your charming civil wedding service, Prince Felix and Princess Claire.
They look pretty happy at the Big Fancy Church Service, too. (You should revisit the venue. It's obviously totally hideous.)

As I said in the original post, the theme of this particular royal wedding seems to be, "BRR."
So many European royal weddings this year. Keep it up, you guys. We need a constant supply of gowns and tiaras.

We have to celebrate the Queen for always looking like such a delicious dish of sherbet. I love this outfit. It's like she's an Easter egg, in the best way. She makes me want to go hug my grandma.

Ah, yes. The Eyes Wide Shut period of Chuck and Cam's year....fun for them, awkward for us.

"I do like being ferried about in a wee, sideless vehicle. Why don't you get one of these to pop over to the Palace, Camilla? Think about it."

This of course is a promotional shot from their upcoming reality show, Two Princes. Somewhere, The Spin Doctors give thanks.

Somewhere, that Faux Zebra is still totally bragging to the rest of the Faux Animals about his epic photobomb.

"Yeah, I decided to match my hat to the water. That's just how I roll. Now, leave me alone so I can put some more 20-cent pieces into this doohickey so I can get a better view of the coastline, okay?"

I think I speak for all of us when I say, W.T.F.

The once-and-future Princess Sadface stepped up her wardrobe game this year, for sure. Which is very exciting for those of us who care about such things, which -- face it, you're reading this right now -- is most of us.
And Princess Letizia spend basically the entire year looking chic, even though she was also bedeviled by gossip that she was totally over being a Princess.

Kate loves 3-D, apparently. She just can't get enough. She saw Avatar seven times in the theatre.

She's not royalty, but I can't resist including a giant fur turban in this wrap-up. I am not made of stone, people. (Yes, that is her Presumptive Betrothed, Nico Jackson. Frankly, I will believe it when I read it in People.)
