Sunday is Remembrance Day in the UK,\* and [there was naturally much ceremony](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/11219122/Queen-leads-Remembrance-Day-tributes-in-UK.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (apparently, [the Queen got a round of applause](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/remembrance-day-2014-queen-applauded-for-braving-terror-threat-as-she-leads-sunday-commemoration-service-at-cenotaph-9849498.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), presumably at least in part because there was a foiled alleged assassination attempt this week and everyone was on high alert at this event as well). Let us look at the (appropriately) very serious hats, and also at some poppies, because I am obsessed with that Tower Poppies exhibit -- which [is apparently going to go on tour](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-29965477?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). No Prince Harry today as he[ went to Afghanistan to observe with British troops, which is an excellent excuse for being absent indeed.](https://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2014110921806/prince-harry-afghanistan-remembrance-day/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

*\*We here in the United States, of course, observe Veteran's Day on Tuesday. GFY is not taking a long weekend, so please drop by as usual.*
