Wills and Kate Visit Whitehorse and Carcross

This red coat is Carolina Herrera -- apparently, it's CHILLY in the Yukon today; it's 90 degrees in Los Angeles, conversely -- and it is lovely. Please also do note that Kate is wearing what I believe are muted oxblood shoes. I have questions about whether or not they match with her red, but they are a step in the right shoe direction for SURE. William, though handsome, looks slightly like an attractive vicar in this sweater/blazer combo.

LOVELY weather you're having, though, Whitehorse, even if it is nippy. Doesn't this just make you want to put on boots and a wine cardigan? Well, stay tuned. You are not alone in that.

Here, Wills and Kate are using a telegram machine (there's a word for that which I should know, given how many books I read wherein people send telegrams) to send a tweet, which is a very neat invention. The tweet they sent was: "THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE, SEPTEMBER 2016, WHITEHORSE YUKON." Which reads like the dateline for an episode of Law & Order, but according to the people who RUN Telegraph to Tweet here, it IS supposed to be a "digital guestbook." So, I guess that makes sense? Anyway: This is very interesting. That distinguished sir is Former Yukon Commissioner and telegraph operator Doug Bell, and this museum was once the telegraph station for this whole area and the only way they had to communicate with the rest of the world. (I believe: Their website is down at the moment. It looks neat, though! You guys know I love a good museum.)

Looking at Kate, and looking at this Mountie, I actually think she choose those shoes because they're the same color as the Mountie's boots. Which I find charming.

She also finds this one charming.

This is apparently a cultural welcome at Carcross, and it's good to know that when you ask small children of any culture to perform a welcome, the rest is generally the same: Adorable, charming chaos.

The Yukon looks GORGEOUS. I seriously just fell into a Trip Advisor hole looking at hotels in Carcross. Apparently, you'll be able to see the Northern Lights tonight! ROMANTIC! This was part of their arrival at Carcross, which included "traditional music, dancing, and speeches."

This sweater/coat/wine cardigan substitute is by Sentaler, and I kinda want one. The boots, too, are extremely cute. I love a cowboy boot on occasion.

As ever, these two seem to be having a genuinely good time on this trip. So cozy!

So amused by these cute kids! And Kate's wine cardigan feels like a special shout-out to us all. We see you, Kate, wearing your cardigan and drinking your wine and watching Scandal at home like the rest of us.

Until tomorrow, which will bring us George and Charlotte again. At last!

Royally Played: Wills and Kate (in Carolina Herrera) Take Canada, Day Five
Oh, you guys! This is the trip that just keeps on giving. Today alone brought so much more handsiness, continued interesting shoes (including really cute cowboy boots!), some coat porn, yet more deeply adorable Canadian children, and Kate in a wine cardigan. I can ask for nothing more. I will also note, though, that this tour is doing exactly what it's meant to do for me in that I now really want to book a vacay to the west coast of fair Canada. You guys will direct me to the finest wine establishments, right? You might ask for a closer look at her shoes from this morning, and I can help you there: A Tip of the Tiara to @bojanana for finding Kate's pumps! pic.twitter.com/SsCCyPBu8W — WhatKateWore.com (@WhatKateWore) September 28, 2016 ALSO: this is neat if you're nerdy like I am: You can hear the #morsecode! pic.twitter.com/m3swb1TfLN — Telegraph to Tweet (@telegraph_tweet) September 28, 2016 ALSO: this is neat if you're interested in totem poles like I am: After hearing about the traditional Inland Tlingit and Tagish totem project, The Duchess paints the eye on a totem pole #RoyalVisitCanada pic.twitter.com/ss08SbiPMX — Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal) September 28, 2016 [Photos: Getty Images]
