Heather's theory is that she's trying to mitigate the bangs by making ALL OF IT closer to the same length. I know there is a sharp divide in Fug Nation about whether or not Kate ought to EVER cut her hair and I am personally generally on the side of NO WHAT WHY DON'T TOUCH IT, but this is cute, I think, and I actually do think Those Bangs work MUCH better with this overall cut. That said, my personal feeling is that any shorter would get way pedestrian and she already is forced by Her Life Choices to dress so conservatively that I think that must be avoided at all costs.

ONTO THE OUTFIT. I think this is totally appropriate for the event -- ICAP Charity Day is an event where ICAP, a global brokerage house, donates the proceeds from the day's trades to a wide variety of charities. TIARA TIME
This was the evening prior (so, yesterday night), en route to a BORINGLY UNPHOTOGRAPHED diplomatic reception. I decided that they never take pictures at that event because everyone gets real drunk and all the diplomats perform feats of strength after the airing of grievances. In short, that it's Diplomat Festivus.
ANYWAY, yes, that's the same dress she wore last time she went to this event and I fear the rest of it is pure 80s hideousness, but SPEAKING OF THE 80S, yes, that is the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara, which you are super, super accustomed to having seen on Diana's head. (LOADS of good details about said tiara at Order of Splendor should you chose to fall into a Tiara Hole instead of do work today.) I long for a day when we get to see this one out and about and not jammed into the back of a car. Wear it into the brokerage on Monday, Kate!
