First of all, Preen is a very fashion-y line for Kate. Between this and last week's Altuzarra, I feel like the free copies of British Vogue Kate started getting after she was on their cover have finally kicked in. This color is great on her.

I actually really quite like this. OBVIOUSLY, if I had my way, her shoes would be metallic, and open-toed, but let's get real: Rome, nor an adventurous shoe wardrobe, wasn't built in a day. I also appreciate how the draping in the bodice echoes the way the royals wear sashes across their torsos at particularly important events. It gives the FEELING of formality.

A good look at the back. Those of you who hate exposed zippers -- they don't personally bother me -- can start your engines here.

I ostensibly grabbed this snap so you could really get a good look at the bodice here, but also so we could all enjoy how VERY MANY wine glasses are living behind Kate. It looks like my living room on debate night!

Other versions of this dress show it wholly off the shoulder, so the Kate Wardrobe Experts on Twitter are undecided as of my writing this as to whether this is a bespoke version of a dress that was originally off-the-shoulder (that she had transformed into an asymmetrical neckline instead), or if she just...yanked the straps up of her own accord, or what. To me, ONE shoulder looks like it might have just been yanked up, and the other looks bespoke (AKA, un-yanked), so...that's helpful. I might have liked it better totally off said shoulder, but sneaking off it ain't bad.

I got all the way to the end of this slideshow before I realized I forgot to show you Wills. Here he is. He looks like Wills.
