Sigh. I love a gold-buttoned coat. This one is Matthew Williamson, and it will look lovely next to her McQueen Giant Pocket Coat in what I assume is her elegantly color-coded Coat Closet.
Informative Caption Time! AHEM: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have visited Pembrokeshire's Valero refinery. The Rhoscrowther-based Pembroke Refinery was officially opened 50 years ago in 1964 by Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother."
Talk of oil refineries always reminds me of the season of Dynasty that Alexis spent six years talking about (literal) pipelines with that rogue Dex Dexter (my favorite of her husbands), culminating in my arguable favorite of her lines: "Nobody takes me to the cleaners and to bed in the same day, Mr. Dexter." I can only hope SOMEONE at this event referenced that episode, although given that the oil refineries of Wales are losing jobs at the moment, perhaps it was not the time to be making Dynasty cracks, unless someone popped up in a turban. Which I always fervently hope is the case.
KATE: Please stop quoting Dynasty. No one knows what you're talking about.
WILLS: Kate. I don't know how many times I need to explain this. Joan Collins is literally a national treasure. You know this. You've met her!
I downloaded many, many coat pictures for your enjoyment (or not; I don't know your life), and ergo this seems as good a place as any to link to People's coverage of this entire outing. (There was also a hospice visit and rugby, the latter of which you shall see at the end of this very slideshow. Spoiler!)
I thought that maybe her coat had a leather collar here, but that's just her dress underneath. (What Would Kate Do calls it a "Hobbs animal shirt dress in a textured pattern," and I decided it's secretly really crazy under there.)
"Alicia did what? Please tell me you did NOT just spoil me on The Good Wife."
Every time a Commemorative Plaque or Painting or Etching or Sign is unveiled, I think of the comment one of you made over the summer, about how there is surely an entire cottage industry of people who make the tiny curtains that make these reveals possible. There are multiple Tiny Curtains in this photo alone. The British royal family is keeping the Tiny Curtain Industry afloat.
(a) Some of these refinery workers are rather attractive!
(b) I really wish they'd talked Wills and Kate into the jumpsuits. Come on, you guys. THAT is a photo op. THAT is a piano picture. It's like I have to do all the work here.
AND THEN they eventually popped over to the Wales v Australia match, which surely brought with it delightful rugby thighs but also, more importantly, THE RETURN OF THE GOAT! Did I just spend thirty-five minutes examining the outfit on a goat to determine if this goat is in fact THAT GOAT? I DID.
"HAHAHAHAHA Harry is going to be enraged that he missed the goat! I can't WAIT to torture him about it!"
"I can't believe they sent me to the goat-less rugby match. A least this one had a streaker." (True. I decided to spare you the photos. But the tackle looked great. Er, the tackle with which they stopped said streaker. Not his tackle. Let's just stop talking now. Have a good Saturday, Fug Nation! I'll see you later.)
