I believe this is the lobby of One World Trade Center? I think they went there, into the National September 11th Memorial Museum, and then to the Memorial itself. I've only seen the memorial itself, outside, which is quite moving and beautifully done. (I cried. If I had Kate's job -- visiting memorials and sick children and the needy being large portions of the public aspects of it -- I would probably cry in public a lot.)

This lovely bit of art in the lobby is conveniently coordinated with Kate's fab coat.

This is at the 9/11 Museum itself (which wasn't open yet when Heather and I visited last year). I am not sure what this bit of the museum actually is; if one of you does, please let us know in the comments. Informative Caption just called it "a commemorative installation."

It does seem apt that it's raining at such a somber stop on their tour. If this were in a book, you could scribble, "pathetic fallacy" in the margins and then feel proud of yourself for remembering that.

At this somber moment, I must take a second to be amused by the fact that Wills is carrying an umbrella from the hotel. EVERYONE forgets to pack their umbrella.

As always, the pool photographers are doing great work on this tour. (It must be nice for them to have something to work with other than a step-and-repeat.) See you later for the rest of today's events. (Those will probably be more rife with opportunities to have a laugh on all our parts.)

[Royally Played: Wills and Kate Visit New York, Day Three, Part IThis morning brought with it a variety of stuff, including a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and museum. It's a shame it was raining; I'm sure Kate wore such a bright color because that outing was logistically likely to have the greatest number of people come out to eyeball them, which is a trick Her Majesty deploys with regularity. (It goes without saying, I'm sure, that I am enamored of this coat. It reminds me of a hot pink coat of my own, the one in which I met Kiefer Sutherland, a story for the ages that I want you to remind me to tell you one day. \[In short, he was charming and drunk and loves a pink coat, especially a vintage one. Okay, that's basically the whole story.\]) PS: If you've missed any of our coverage of this trip so far -- forearms! Beyonce! LeBron! Coats, my god so many coats -- you can find it all here.
