Twitter reports that someone in the crowd yelled, "TURN AROUND, KATE," and William prompted her to do it. He has never been this cheery with the press, and I wonder if part of this is the influence of their new Press Guru, or they're just really happy right now, or both. Regardless, it's good news for us lookyloos. .
This is, of course, the St. Andrews 600th Anniversary Dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Per Informative Caption, the fundraiser will "support scholarships and bursaries for students from under-privileged communities and investment in the university's media and science faculties, sports centers and lectureship in American literature." Yay, American literature. The photos inside are stunning, as you will soon see. I must confess that when I saw this photo, tiny, on Twitter, I thought WILLIAM was wearing the kilt and I am VERY SAD THAT HE IS NOT.
I believe these sleeves are more off-the-shoulder than usual with this dress, and they look LOVELY like this. The neckline is just fab, with the up-do and those swoonworthy, AMAZING earrings. I think this is honestly pretty stunning.
The back of the dress looks great, too. (I like to think those women in the background are like, "YOU go talk to them." "No, YOU go talk to them." "YOU'RE the one in an amazing cape." "That is a good point.")
It goes without saying that this is a GORGEOUS venue for an event. I think everything in New York should be at the Met. (Dinner was in the Temple of Dendur, where I assume everyone had too much pepper in her paprikash.)
This dress is very flattering to her decolletage. Apparently, Wills mentioned in his speech at this event how important St Andrews is to him and Kate, given that they met there, and I hope and assume he then mentioned said decolletage, and then high-fived a waiter.
And then Eugenie showed up! (I thought she was wearing pants; she is not.)
Does this count as hand-holding? I'll take it.
Rewind to earlier today, in which we see what's under the coat for once! A black knit dress. I bet Heather it was going to be a leather mini-skirt with flames embroidered over the crotch and now I guess I owe her forty-seven thousand dollars.
"No, I'd say this necklace is like...a MID-LEVEL Cartier."
INFORMATIVE CAPTION: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend a 'Creativity is Great' Reception at Neue House." This was hosted by Visit Britain, the official UK tourism board. (They do the GREAT Britain ads, which you've probably seen; they're quite good, I think.) And then Patrick Stewart showed up. He looks so dashing and professorial in his bow tie.
When I saw this pic, I thought, "is that person wearing sequins over a turtlen -- OH IT'S JENNA LYONS OF COURSE." (And that's Harvey Weinstein in the background, surely there with Georgina Chapman. Last time I personally saw Harvey in the wild, he was wandering a Marchesa show in just a white Hanes tee shirt. In fairness, they had just had a baby and were maybe sleep deprived? ANYWAY.) It turns out that Kate's black pants from the night previous were J Crew, so I can only assume Jenna was thanking her for the sales tick, and then they chattered about bracelets. J Crew does seem like a good fit for Kate.
We always enjoy a ponytail detail -- and a look at the back of that Cartier necklace. Good day for jewelry, friends. Good day indeed.
