SO CLOSE to being Kiss Cam. So close! Cute Dorky Wave Cam will have to suffice.
Earlier in the night! This picture just makes me laugh. She's never looked more like the cat that got the cream. They are VERY CANOODLE-Y this trip, as you shall see in just a few slides, but these two are always loved up when they get out of town. (Maybe they feel less scrutinized when they're not in the UK.) I feel like the subtext here is totally, "MINE. ALL MINE."
Hillary is seriously having THE BEST NIGHT. Look at how pleased she is to meet Kate! (Kate was a late add to this event, so although she was surely not a SURPRISE at this point, I imagine Hillary was pleased she came). Informative Caption Time: "[Wills and Kate] attend a reception co-hosted by the Royal Foundation and the Clinton Foundation at British Consul General's Residence." I know Chelsea WOULD be at a Clinton Foundation do, regardless, but I have to think she might have made an extra effort to make sure she had a babysitter for this one.
Hillary is BEYOND DELIGHTED to be introducing William. She has never looked this tickled! She is having a great time, they're great, her hair looks great, everyone is great, it's all just entirely great!
I'd sincerely like to thank William for wearing these pants and not his Insane Dad Jeans for this event, and I can only think that perhaps as they were packing, a terrible terrible accident unfolded wherein Kate inadvertently spilled an entire container of curry allllllll over them. All over them FOREVER.
Here's a good look at Kate's jeans, which look very similar to black J Brands, but I assume are Maternity Something Something. Or she's got them hoisted up using a rubber band around the button and they're totally unzipped and that's why she left her coat on all night.
"They love the Hand on the Back photos," muttered one photographer to the other. "Make sure you get LOADS."
I enjoy this new shirt on Wills. I ALWAYS enjoy Manly Forearms.
"DID I LEAVE MY WALLET AT HOME? I hope Kate has cash. What if we want nachos at the game?!" (They were, in fact, offered nachos, but did not partake. I am sad we did not get photos of Kate dabbling at nacho cheese fallen onto the corner of her coat sleeve.)
The whole purpose of this outing (other than fun and PR and meeting Jay Z and Beyonce) was because they're launching, per the palace presser, "a new collaboration between the Royal Foundation, United for Wildlife and the NBA."
In other news: Dikembe Mutombo, making tall people look short for thirty years now.
WILLS: Then what happens with that thing?
KATE: The basket? The ball goes into it. HENCE THE NAME.
WILLS: OH! Yeah, I guess that does make sense. You know everything!
Everyone DID appear to have a good time. Except for maybe the dudes behind them, some of who are possibly charged with making sure everyone gets everywhere alive. We DO know they're actual sports fans, from all the many many sporting events at which we've seen them embrace.
And then THIS happened, and the internet was briefly broken. I like to think that when everyone got into their respective cars at the end of the night, Kate was like, "I can't believe I got to meet Beyonce," and Beyonce was like, "I am so excited I got to meet Prince William. I LOVED him when I was 14. SOLANGE IS SO JEALOUS RIGHT NOW," and Jay Z was like, "that dude is taller than I thought he would be," and Kate was like, "I should have asked her to come to a play date!" and Beyonce was like, "I hope everyone appreciated how cute my shirt is tonight," and William was just like, "I think I might want to own a basketball team too."
I have NO IDEA what's happening in this picture. Post-game, LeBron here gave them a "Cambridges" jersey (adult size) and then a wee one that said "George" on it, and perhaps Kate just dropped the lot of them, but, regardless, I had to use this photo. It's too funny. It's like a caption contest waiting to happen.
