Prince Harry

WELCOME BACK LOVER.

Gallipoli Campaign Centenary: The Commemorations, April 24

Today, Harry and his dress whites are in Turkey for the Gallipoli centenary. Today, Informative Caption is actually VERY informative: "The Gallipoli land campaign, in which a combined Allied force of British, French, Australian, New Zealand and Indian troops sought to occupy the Gallipoli Peninsula and the strategic Dardanelles Strait during World War I, began on April 25, 1915 against Turkish forces of the Ottoman Empire. The Allies, unable to advance more than a few kilometers, withdrew after eight months. The campaign cost the Allies approximately 50,000 killed and up to 200,000 wounded, the Ottomans approximately 85,000 killed and 160,000 wounded."

Princes Charles and Harry

Prince Charles was also present. (They're all going back to the UK late on Saturday from what I understand, even Harry.)

"No, I want them to name it Farthingale and NO ONE will listen to me. Kate said, 'please just leave the country already,' and then threw a book at my head." WOMEN."

Prince Harry On Military Secondment With Australian Defence Force

Per Informative Caption, here Harry is wrapping up "two weeks secondment in the Australian Army with the North-West Mobile Force (NORFORCE) and the 1st Brigade." I enjoy that entire next series of photos are Things We Like To See Harry Doing, namely, being adorable with children, and...

...standing around with other hot dudes in uniform...

...and getting down and dirty in a variety of sport-y pursuits with veterans. He really does play to his strengths (as we all should be so lucky as to do). We just need a snap of him at a petting zoo and we'll get the bingo.

Preparations At The Lindo Wing

Meanwhile, back in London, a variety of folks prepared to spend some time staring at a door.

Princess Beatrice

This week, Beatrice -- who has gotten a LOT of bad press lately for having taken a lot of vacays -- went to the Conde Nast International Luxury Conference in Florence, Italy. Which SOUNDS like it might be a professional outing? I don't even know. I think she and Eugenie are probably a bit of collateral damage in the tussle between Charles and Andrew (as Charles wants to downsize the Royal Family and 86 the kids who aren't in the direct line for the throne, and Andy does not). I also think she's getting a lot of scrutiny right now because everyone is in a lather about Andy's Various Inappropriate Liaisons. I ALSO also think this is why Eugenie was like, "GOING TO NEW YORK SEE YOU ALL LATER." All this said, Beatrice looks cute here.

Conde Nast International Luxury Conference - Day 2

Everyone here looks FASCINATED.

Conde Nast International Luxury Conference - Conde' Nast International And Place Vendome Qatar Party

That leather jacket was a smart packing choice.

F1 Grand Prix of Bahrain

Prior to the Luxury Conference, at which I assume everyone feels luxurious, she and the boyfriend here went to the Grand Prix in Bahrain and I DON'T THINK this is a romper she's wearing and in fact let's just decide it isn't, okay?

Princess Eugenie

In New York, Eugenie went to some fancy dinner during the Tribeca Film Festival. Do we think this needs a belt?

The Queen, Duke Of Edinburgh Attend Reception At Canada House

Informative Caption: "Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, in her role as Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment, poses for a formal portrait with the Calgary Highlanders, ahead of a reception for Canadian regiments and descendents who fought in WWI battles at Canada House." Uninformative Caption: KILTS!

BRITAIN-AUSTRALIA-ROYALS-POLITICS

Insert your obligatory rug joke here. (This is a new one!) However, Informative Caption is very interesting this go-round: "Britain's Queen Elizabeth II inspects the Insignia of a Knight of the Order of Australia after presenting it to her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as Australian High Commissioner Alexander Downer looks on in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle." The idea of QE2 being like, "here's this thing for you, Phil. Now, give it back so I can actually get a good look at it. Have you seen my glasses?"

QE2 at Newbury Races

"I just don't trust this horse."

QE2 at the Newbury Races

I LOVE this photo of the Queen. She really loves the ponies (she's watching her own horse race here, in fact).

Queen Letizia

Yeah, yeah, Letizia got a haircut -- I love it -- but what I really want to know is WHO is that dude chatting her up?

Felipe and Letizia

Felipe is like, "yes, who WAS that dude?"

Felipe and Letizia

I dig the detailings on Letizia's skirt; everyone always enjoys a morning suit on a king.

Queen Letizia

I am not a fan of the jumpsuit, as you know, but I don't hate this jumpsuit on her specifically.

Felipe and Letizia and Spanish author Juan Goytisolo

I like to think that Felipe and Letizia intentionally match his ties to her skirts.

Queen Maxima

Wherever she is, Maxima enjoys herself. Here, that "wherever" is "a meeting for Universal Financial Access 2020 at the IMF/WB Spring Meetings in Washington, DC." Hey! Who knew Maxima was in town?

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima

"Me! ME! Call on me! I know the answer!"

Queen Mathilde

Well, well, well, look who finally got her knee brace off. She has to be THRILLED to be back on both legs again.

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde

I enjoy this very ladylike hat.

Queen Sonja of Norway

This is Queen Sonja of Norway, at the American-Scandinavian Foundation Gala Dinner, in New York. I like to think that she and Camilla have long convos about their mutual affection for pearl chokers.

Crown Princess Mary

Royal kids + baby animals ALWAYS = goodness.

Crown Princess Mary

Very no nonsense here, Mary is.

Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo

Pierre and Beatrice, it seems, should pop out for a sporting event with Wills and Kate sometime.

Royals Round-Up, April 24th, 2015
Get ready! We've got Harry and haircuts and horse races waiting for you, as the wait for Baby Cambridge Two continues. As a gentle reminder, The Royal We is currently on sale for $9.99, if you are a reader of e-books. Allow me to link you up: - It's a Kindle Select Pick, which means that you can get it for your Kindle here - You can get it on iBooks here and read it on your phone or iPad. - If you have a Nook, it's ALSO $9.99 on Ye Old Nooke here. - If you do your e-book-reading on Kobo, you can get it for $9.99 here. We also have a Facebook page for the book, where you will be able to get easy updates on signings and events and whatnots, if that's your jam. ELSEWHERE, please enjoy the following royals-related bits and bobs: Hello! has Prince Harry's and Prince Charles's intel for their visit to Turkey today and yesterday. The Telegraph has all kinds of intel about the forthcoming baby -- like the fact that Harry will be briefly back in London on Sunday so could MAYBE meet the baby if she or he emerges by then. And What Kate Wore has (I think) the definitive guide to keeping track of Baby Cambridge Deux's arrival. Really, really good work and super practical for you royals watchers. Victoria Arbiter has a good column about why she doesn't think Baby Cambridge Deux will be named "Diana," and I agree with her. (I also am beginning to think this baby will be a boy, just because everyone has decided it's a girl. We will appreciate you either way, Baby Cambridge Two!) There's a pub near the hospital named The Duchess of Cambridge. Add that to the itinerary for Fug Nation's Fictional Tour of Great Britain! (People) Whilst we wait for her to have this baby, Kate went out and bought a bath mat. (People) And we sat down with our friends at The Duchess Diary for an oral history of The Royal We, and really got into a lot of the nuts and bolts that went into it (and some dishy stuff that got taken out of it.) This is a fascinating article on how British queens have influenced the English language. (Oxford Dictionaries) I snickered at this piece at What Would Kate Do? and not just because I am quoted in it. Behold: WHAT WOULD WILLIAM WEAR and join me in praying that the new jeans he was allegedly spotted buying are NORMAL and not HUGE DAD JEANS. Someone is getting ready for a casual photo opp, and I can only hope that Kate yelled at him from her spot on the sofa, "GET NORMAL ONES, WILLIAM. I MEAN IT. Love you bring me a scone thanks bye." I don't have high hopes. The blog So Obsessed With made the MOST AWESOME Gift Guide based on The Royal We. I can't tell you how much I love this. Our friends at the HRH Duchess Kate blog are giving away an autographed copy, by the way! And we are DELIGHTED to be included in the CBC's recommendations for spring reading. We talked to our friends at The Fashion Spot about the book and a VARIETY of royal subjects, including the all important question of Harry v. Wills. This is from the Daily Mail (I Know) but it's really cute: Kate & Wills' love map of Britain. The Telegraph runs down what QE2 did for her birthday this week. (It was a RAGER!) StyleList has a wonderful piece about the Queen's style over the years. And you'll enjoy the conversation about her hats over at the Royal Hats blog. And also, this chat with the costumer who dresses Helen Mirren in her current role as QE2 on Broadway. (InStyle) In case you missed anything of Queen Margrethe's 75th birthday shenanigans, The Court Jeweller has a great wrap-up. Mette-Marit and Haakon went on an arctic tour! (Royalista)
