Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary in Greenland

Royals Round-Up (3)

This is traditional garb, and the look on their little girl's face -- I think these are Josephine and Vincent, who are twins -- is basically the best thing ever. THEY ARE NOT HAVING THIS TRADITIONAL COSTUME AT ALL. (It's a mark of how glam CPM is that I looked at her and thought, "that sweater is kinda great." But it IS! It's like a Fair Isle sweater that's been juicing and the colors are awesome.)

I need someone to explain to me why CPF has worn what looks like this exact poncho in a variety of colors throughout this trip. Does he just LOVE a casual poncho that rather looks as if it came out of a bag? Do Mary and Kate need to have a conference about what to do with their husband's casual wear? She, as always, looks freaking glam.*

*Thanks to those of you in the comments who heard my cry and explained that this was a traditional anorak, worn in Greenland. How interesting! (In America, trust me when I saw that it is not at all common knowledge that the anorak can be anything but just something you get at REI. Learning!)

This is like when you find out the cute but schlubby dude who owns the bike shop in your town has a REALLY STYLISH girlfriend.

I have decided I want Kate and CPM to really be friends. They have a LOT to talk about: their husbands' insistence on owning very little casual wear; their feelings about kicky blazers and slim-fitting jeans; their Brunette Blowout tips; and then CPM can start mailing Kate really good rag & bone-ish boots.

This is THEIR piano picture. Each of these children wants to run off in another direction immediately.

I might be in love with Princess Josephine. She has FEELINGS about this poncho.

The Spanish royals are also on vacation, but it's kind of a working vacay. Here, they were visiting volunteers at a part of Majorca that was effected by a fire. I think Letizia is wearing harem pants. Vacation Letizia is FUN!

"Take that, Prince Harry! I TOO can high-five children!"

Prince Harry

Harry is always grabbing his own back pocket, like he's checking to see if his wallet is there AND IT NEVER IS. Prince Harry, just leaving his wallet and all kinds of incriminating items all over London. (Or he just likes to cop a feel of his own self, not that I blame him.)

"Think I'll just pop over here and talk to THESE people NOT JUST BECAUSE SHE IS A BLONDE. Do you truly think so little of me?"

Charles and Camilla,

Cheers to a good weekend, everyone. I hope you'll be doing this soon.

Royals Round-Up, August 15th, 2014
EVERYONE is on vacation. Even the Queen. This week's royals round-up DOES bring you some snaps from Crown Princess Mary and family's official visit to Greenland, however, and that means one thing: fur pants on children. To make up for the paucity of royals sightings this week, I threw in some additional Harry shots from his outing this week where he was cavorting about in a slim-fitting polo and nuzzling a dog. Also! It's Princess Anne's birthday. I hope she catches a MURDERER today in her own honor. Here are her archives as a celebration. Elsewhere, I can bring you further delights: This is amazing. Our cheeky friends at Tatler bring you: GUESS THE ROYAL BOTTOM. I did not do as well as I'd anticipated, but I did get Kate's. And Harry's, obviously. The Royal Hats blog has spent this week looking at everyone's gear at Felipe and Letizia's wedding ten years ago. Some of the guests look crraaaaaazy. It's really fun. God bless The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor for writing the sentence, "Princess Irene of the Netherlands turned 75 on Tuesday, and that sounds like a good excuse to revisit the very grand wedding gown she wore to her very controversial wedding." Grand wedding gowns at controversial weddings are MY FAVORITE. And THIS is the wedding I am always banging on about -- where the bride was accused of being "in thrall to Franco," and then it turned out that she totally WAS and it was a whole international incident and the Dutch boycotted the wedding and then she got exiled from Spain, TOO! And now she's the one who wrote the book about how she talks to trees! Anyway, her wedding dress is Balmain and it's VERY glam. Wills and Kate and Harry are due to attend a wedding in Italy next month, and everything about Katie Nicholl's report on this at Vanity Fair sort of delights me; double-barreled names, five-star hotels, engagement cookies, Pippa's exes. Katie Nicholl also has the scoop on Harry's upcoming 30th birthday. They're actually forcing him to marry someone from I Wanna Marry Harry after all. How do you know it's a slow news week? This headline in the Mirror: Kate Middleton has reportedly been spotted hunting for bargain baby clothes during a visit to a designer outlet village. WOMAN MAY HAVE BOUGHT JAMMIES IN A GOOD DEAL!!!! Charlene went to a concert with Albert and she looked very neutral as usual. (Facially, she doesn't look QUITE as miserable as usual, though). (Hello!)
