"And I said, 'are you QUITE sure you're not allowing goats at this memorial?' and unfortunately they were VERY firm about it."
At this event, Harry read a letter home from a solider who did not survive, and apparently it was very moving (unsurprisingly). He looks VERY CROSS that his time of quiet reflection here has been interrupted, which is unusual for him.
In less important topics, I feel like all his suits are about half a size too big lately.
That man there in the bow tie is the Prime Minister of Belgium, Elio Di Rupo, and I do not know why he is showing Wills and Kate a drum, but they have on their very best, "Oooooh, a drum!" faces.
This is a BEAUTIFUL photo. And I also like that you can see Harry, blurry, in the distance, looking like he's about to take off running to catch up with her. "WAIT! KATE! I LOVE YOoooo......Yule! I love YULE! Can't WAIT for Christmas!"
Kate also laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. (Some of these photos came out after I'd written our original post, and I thought you'd might like to see them.)
I am neutral on this coat/dress/coatdress, but I really do LOVE that hat.
We have seen MANY a photo where Wills places a Gentle Guiding Hand on Kate, but rarely ever the reverse. UNTIL NOW. (Don't fall down, William. Those photos will live in infamy.)
Behind them, Harry's all, "no one cares if I fall. My suit's too big and there's no one to give me a Gentle Guiding Hand." Oh, Harry. LOTS of us would happily lend you any sort of hand you like.
These photos were fabulously dramatic and moving on Tuesday, and they still are.
It's VERY rare to get a shot of all the press scrum around them; I just thought this was interesting.
Speaking of towers, they let her out of hers for the Red Cross ball in Monaco, and she finally brought out some jewels. Still no tiara -- that's a headband -- but...we'll take it. And those earrings might just be major. Her face also looks quite beautiful -- the pregnancy weight suits her.
They look as blissed out and delighted as ever. Although Charlene looks very pretty, if extremely simple. Al always looks like the most supercilious maitre d' in town.
Bonus points for the bracelet, and the metallic shoes. (The baby [or babies] is [are] due at the end of the year, so things are certainly percolating. She has been OFF THE RADAR for months, so I wonder if maybe she had a rough early trimester. Hang in there, Char. Sven will eventually get you and the baby to safety come hell or high water.)
This is kind of a cute dress on Bea. Hope she kept an eye on the fact that she's clearly working with the sort of situation where her purse is making her skirt ride up all day long. Also, today is her birthday!
Pips here is sporting her fanciest wine cardigan. Is this a SIGNAL? Pippa, go tell Harry I need to talk to him. About...none of your business. Just do it.
This is the, and I quote, "candlelit vigil and prayer service to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War at Westminster Abbey." The Dean looks SNAZZY. Camz looks, as often, like she's wearing a really, really nice housecoat.
When I saw this, I realized this is the uniform that I always IMAGINE Prince Charles wearing, and indeed it is the one he wore when he married Princess Diana, and ergo the one he worn on my paper dolls. (He ALSO wore it to Wills and Kate's wedding but I was distracted that day.) It IS quite dashing.
F and L are in Mallorca -- I believe on at least partial holiday, like every other royal in the world -- but this was an official event and they look good.
It takes a special man to pull off white jeans with aplomb and -- much like the Brothers Wales -- Felipe is one of these special men. Letizia is obviously wearing her jammies, but I secretly kind of dig these wacky pants. She really looks like she just popped out to get the paper, but I also just told her to spice up her pants and SHE LISTENED. I'M DELIGHTED.
I find CPF's scruff appealing.
Much like the postal service, Anne will not be kept from the swift completion of her appointed rounds by something as banal as inclement weather.
This is the "Festival of British Eventing," which I assume is show-jumping and whatnot. I just read, on the recommendation of Fug Nation, Jilly Cooper's Riders -- a book which I enjoyed, but which HAS NOT AGED WELL and has a hero that I was hoping would die in a fire (rumor has it he improves over the course of her other books) and another one who was perfectly lovely until he did something TERRIBLE that the book didn't seem to think was all that bad and then he basically married a CHILD. And ANOTHER character tells ANOTHER character that he knew she was going to get her period because her breasts were larger and she was like, "ooh, he's so sensitive," but I was like, "you've known her for two weeks, you weird perv." I HAVE THOUGHTS! -- and now I feel like I know all about such pursuits. Zara looks very sharp in her riding kit.
Zara's baby, Mia, is CUTE. And so is little James (excuse me, VISCOUNT SEVERN), who is Sophie and Ed Wessex's little boy. He looks like a handful.
And this was the Queen's part in the WWI memorializing -- she went to a memorial service in Scotland in a VERY beautiful church and everyone gave her PLENTY of room on her pew.
Finally, Gran finally made it to Balmoral for her summer vacation. "I hope none of you are wearing undercrackers," she's saying here. "HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ME."
You can tell she's on vacation because she's wearing a cardigan and the rug is different. It's mostly a vacation from That Awful Rug.
