Poor Harry's gotten no attention this week at all. Let's kick off the slideshow with him, then.
WILLS: What's that, love?
KATE: I think I left the curling iron on.
WILLS: Well, call the hotel and have them go turn it off.
KATE: No, I think I left it on IN ENGLAND.
"In the UK, we generally have tiny curtains for plaques such as these. Can I introduce you to our Tiny Curtain people?"
And back to work in Great Britain. I assume the crux of this speech was, "sweet overcoat, HOW I'VE MISSED YOU."
I also assume that after this event (a "ceremony for the Football Remembers memorial to commemorate the 1914 Christmas Truce, at the National Memorial Arboretum"), he took that sheep (ram?) home with him for Harry's Christmas gift. SURE, Kate's allegedly getting him a puppy, and the goat will be furious, but who cares? Let's make that man's Kensington Palace apartment into an actual zoo!
As you probably know, Eugenie ALSO attended the St Andrews Gala at the Met this week, and she wore a very cute coat (it's by Aritzia) with leather sleeves on the way in.
Here's a better look at her dress, which I just remembered I already showed you guys, but...well, HERE IT IS AGAIN. I kept thinking it was a jumpsuit, so let's PRAISE that it is not.
Here's a look at the back of it. Also: I treasure the side-eye on the woman next to Kate.
That's Bea's boyfriend Dave behind her. (We should give as much attention to the girls' suitors as Harry's girlfriends, I feel.)
Aptly, Beatrice York popped over to the York Royal Theatre, which appears to be mounting a festive Christmas pantomime, a form of entertainment with which I am only familiar because I have read A LOT of books featuring British children.
"This IS the week we wear good coats, right?"
"No. You're right. It's AWFUL."
Also, I totally blew this photo up to look at the Queen's photographs. (There's a Zara and Mike Tindall wedding shot, the picture of her and Charles and William and George, from Cheeks McGee's christening [AKA, Look At All These Heirs!!!], and then three pics I can't really ID.)
Camilla had a bunch of families from a children's hospice over to Clarence House for a Christmas party, and it looks festive indeed.
Then she threateningly waved a knife at a group of kindly Meals on Wheels employees.
Over in Monaco, the palace was lit up to celebrate the fact that Charlene has had her twins, who I believe we will all get to see in January. They're boy/girl twins, and although the girl, Gabriella, was first-born, the boy, Jacques, is the heir because Monaco is still doing the male primogeniture thing.
However, royal families all around the world have a dude on call who goes outside and puts up a sign when the baby is born. (A tradition I enjoy. It's so old school. It always reminds me of reading books wherein, say, the QUEEN IS TAKEN ILL and some dude like this is tasked with going outside and posting notices that let people know how ill, exactly, she is. Like primitive Twitter.)
Presented without comment.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway are UNMOVED by this Children's Peace Concert. UNMOVED I TELL YOU.
That said, everyone BROUGHT IT this week for the Nobel Prize. Gowns! Jewels! This coat?
This thing Mette-Marit has on her head? She's very Blair Waldorf in this.
I think her head looks great here, but this dress is feels very Anne Hathaway Regrets She Is Unable to Wear This.
Everyone else, however, looks major. Here, you've got Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, and Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, shoved there in the back, who I feel would benefit from losing the gel in his hair. It makes him look sort of...nefarious.
I have truly saved the bling for last. In short: That is a LOT OF JEWELRY. Order of Splendor, of course, has the run-down on the jewels, and this is a GREAT look at the history of this tiara, over at The Court Jeweller. That's not a tiara. It is A TIARA.
And Crown Princess Victoria looks amazing. We were speculating after she wore a very voluminous coat the other day if perhaps she had a Uterine Secret, but if so, WELL CONCEALED IT IS.
I think this is SO stunning for what is obviously an incredibly formal event. A ballgown for a BALL, y'all.
Spectacular.
Princess Madeleine was probably like, "eh, I tried."
Sigh. Here is the thing, and I need someone to come to Sofia's aid and tell her this. HELP HER OUT, YOU GUYS. Ahem. When you have a past as an "erotic glamour model," a former "Miss Slitz," and someone who was once on Paradise Hotel, who was part of a photoshoot where a live boa constrictor was basically the only outfit, and who announced that she spent a weekend making out with Jenna Jamison in Vegas, and ergo are perhaps considered by certain personages to be not a wholly suitable match for a Prince, you will probably make better headway with the haters, of which I am sure there are many, if you way overcompensate for that. Which means this is approximately 85% too many sequins and 65% too tacky by half. SOMEONE decide to Eliza Doolittle this kid, won't you? (I've decided I am rooting for Sofia.)
