Harry was an usher at a wedding in Oxfordshire this weekend, proving to us definitively that THE YELLOW WAISTCOAT LIVES!
It will not surprise you to know that Harry made fast friends with the flower girls.
Bea and Yoj ALSO attended said wedding, and this is my favorite of Beatrice's coats (I am writing these ENORMOUS Royals Round-Up Round Ups for next week, and this is how I know that she also wore it last Christmas). Her hat might be a bit casual for a wedding, but overall, I think she looks good. I like Eugenie's coat, too, but I sometimes think she'd be better off in more structured stuff.
I feel like Harry is fomenting a great amount of TATTLING in this photo, somehow. That said, I also think that Harry would be sensitive to the person who was tattled upon.
This was en route to the Queen's Annual Christmas Lunch at Buckingham Palace, before she hares off to Sandringham for the holiday. Kate looks happy and lovely, William looks mildly irritated (but I love it when he wears his glasses). Probably because this was the day at which he cracked a joke at an event that Kate's hair is "a nightmare" and some people ran with it. HE WAS OBVIOUSLY KIDDING, YOU GUYS. It's like when I note that some majestic vista or another is hideous. Kate's hair is a majestic vista on a head.
Everyone else also went to this lunch -- I doubt you turn down Christmas Lunch at Buck House, barring actually being on fire -- but most of the pictures are boring because it's like...people in cars. HOWEVER, I thought -- speaking of hair -- you might want to see how GREAT Bea's looks. Maybe she and Kate are deep conditioning together.
Fergie, on the other hand...has perhaps made better clothing choices than this one. I worry she's trying to kill Prince Philip via poor sartorial choices, so that she and Andy can get re-married in peace.
Camilla went to a concert of Christmas carols at St Paul's, where clearly she clearly delighted Dominic West (I assume she's making all manner of Dawson's Creek cracks with regards to The Affair).
Here, I assume she's talking about Simon Callow's infamous nude frolicking with Rupert Graves and Julian Sands in A Room With a View.
Here, I can only assume she's about to turn to Gwendoline Christie and ask her all kinds of questions about the Lannisters.
What a super hideous place for an event. Must have been an unfestive trial for all and sundry.
Then she met a giant duck, as one does.
And her Majesty tied her best kerchief on and popped up to Sandringham until February. Do NOT interrupt her whilst she's doing her jigsaw.
From L to R: Prince Gabriel, Princess Eleonore, Queen Mathilde, Prince Emmanuel, King Philippe and Princess Elisabeth. My favorite thing about the Belgian princes and princesses is HOW ANNOYED they look all the time. They always look so hilariously resentful of these photo ops. They also look very nice. Mathilde looks totally dishy in her LBD.
She ALSO looks elegant here -- does that top of her dress seem cape-esque? Regardless, I APPROVE.
Prince Albert did a TON of Handing Out of Gifts this week -- much of which was captured in photos that were not available to me -- and he looked very jolly indeed, and I say that as someone who rarely says nice things about him. Fatherhood must agree with him.
Felipe and Letizia released their official portrait this week and this is it. I...just spent a really long time trying to figure out if it was a painting or a photo? I think it's a photo? Should this question be this hard? Maybe I need to lay off the nog.*
*So do the people who marked this as new: it's actually from 2010! Thanks to Elizabeth K Mahon for the correct scoop!
Here they are in real life, each wondering if they turned off the flat iron.
Christmas card time! These are all the official ones, of course -- I assume the personal ones are pictures of, like, George eating Camilla's most wreath-like hat or whatever. It also cracks me up that this photo, which is from the Invictus Games Opening Ceremony, just RUTHLESSLY CUTS OUT William and Harry. (I know, I know: W&K send out their own and it's so embarrassing for Harry to be like the Sad Single Child on his father's holiday card. So of course they did. It just makes me chuckle.)
This is the front of Felipe and Letizia's card. I hope they included a letter that was like, "as you can see from the photo on our card, this was the YEAR WE TOOK OVER."
This is the inside of said card. One of you pointed out on Twitter that it's very endearing that Leonor and Sofia are clearly trying out their new cursive skills.
