Like I'm not going to start with white polo pants. Come on. Don't you even know me?
WHITE PANTS ACTION SHOTS!
William had a lot on his docket this week and of course much of it involved pointing whilst wearing blue suits.
Despite appearances, he is not washing dishes or picking up crime scene evidence here. Per Getty, "the Duke of Cambridge wears purple gloves to place the glove of First World War fighter pilot ace Major James McCudden in a display cabinet at the opening of the newly refurbished Imperial War Museum atrium in south London." We have some other pictures of said museum, and it looks EXTREMELY COOL, and William looks totally into it the entire time. (As a pilot, I expect he would be. Also, museums are neat.)
Again, per our friends at Getty Images Caption Writing: "Prince William addresses the dignitaries at the newly refurbished Imperial War Museum." He was there to open the new WWI galleries, specifically and the atrium looks SO COOL. I saw other photos of him with David Cameron (who was also there for the event) just staring open-mouthed and delighted at the ceiling like children.
Wednesday, Wills had an event at the Coventry War Memorial Park, also to mark the centenary of the first World War. I don't know what they're talking about here, but he clearly seems to be saying, "yeah, I DON'T THINK THAT'S A GOOD IDEA." I can only assume it was suggested that perhaps he and Kate go on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!.
I have to say -- I recognize this is a shallow observation, but here we are -- whomever makes the poppy wreaths they so often lay at memorials deserves a raise. They are always so beautiful. I know the beauty of the wreath is not the point, but, you know: Shout out to the florist, for once.
Do not ask me why the visit to the War Memorial Park then segued into athletic shenanigans -- I can only assume that said park is also a PARK park and ergo has lots of community tennis courts and the like. (Which is good.) So, tennis was played, despite the lack of Proper Tennis Whites. Try doing it in heels, dude.
"It's easier when Kate and I can just sit in the stands and make faces."
He also FORCED children to COMPETE FOR HIS FAVOR. (I assume that's what's going on here, right?) (That one kid got an AWESOME start, also.)
Finally, poppies were planted. There is something endearing about how SERIOUSLY everyone in this picture appears to be taking their task.
YES, YES. You still hold the title for Most Adorable With British Children. CALM DOWN, HARRY. We KNOW.
And, finally, "Prince William, Duke of Cambridge strokes the statue of Captain Flinders cat 'Trim' as he unveils a statute in honour of Captain Matthew Flinders, the first cartographer to circumnavigate Australia and identify it as a continent." I can hear the convos now:
WILLS: What are you doing today?
KATE: I'm taking George to Mommy and Me Skeet-Shooting and then I have to catalog my coats. What are you doing today?
WILLS: Gotta go pet a cat statue.
KATE: Sounds about right. Bring home some marmalade if you get a chance.
Elsewhere, The Queen of the District Attorneys and her King popped over to Morocco for a state visit. One day I hope Spain names a shade of beige after Letitiza -- whose clutch, however, seems like it might be great.
Poor Letizia has never looked more beige, of course, than when compared with Princess Lalla Salma, who looks AMAZING here. She looks like she fell out of a Vogue pattern book in 1964 and I am ALL ABOUT IT. She's also, per Wiki, "the first wife of a Moroccan ruler to have been publicly acknowledged and given a royal title," and I look forward to eventually reading her autobiography, because I assume Shit Went Down. (You may remember her from the other times we have featured her. She always looks dramatic.)
Shoes aside, though, I kind of dig this for the location. It feels vaguely The Middle 45 Minutes of The English Patient, where everyone looks FABULOUS and is alive. I wish she TOO had on a baller pair of sunglasses, though.
And this is a re-wear! She DOES look happier now, I think, than she used to. It must have been very stressful to have all the CRAZY SCANDAL of the other Spanish Royals swirling about them all the time. Not that it's stopped swirling, but at least now they're the top dogs.
This is the room where Felipe receives HIS ambassadors (the Spanish version of the Buckingham Palace Room With the Rug QE2 Hates). And this room REALLY brings the drama. I seriously just pulled this pic so you could see the chandelier. There's a Phantom in an Opera somewhere making plans to move to Spain.
I know there are those of you who would have been very cross if I didn't get you a closer look at, um, his uniform.
This is ALL the Belgians -- Princess Eleonore, Prince Emmanuel, Queen Mathilde, Prince Gabriel, King Philippe and Princess Elisabeth-- at a place called "Sealife," which I assume is an animal sanctuary for the creatures of the sea, but which I keep reading as "Selfie," which is a wholly different place. I love how BORED and ANNOYED the kids look. Royals: They ARE just like us.
You may remember Prince Felix and Princess Claire from their wedding. They had a baby -- she must have gotten pregnant right off the bat! -- and little Amalia was christened this week, and she is adorable, and he is still hot, and Claire looks totally freaking great, so WAY TO GO, LUXEMBOURG. Congrats, you attractive happy people.
It was ALSO Princess Victoria's birthday this week, and they appear to be having a delightful time. Is her necklace made of candy??? I mean, that is festive.
Princess Estelle -- Daniel and Victoria's daughter -- is VERY VERY cute. She's also wearing a dress that Victoria wore when she was little, I BELIEVE, but now I can't track down my source for that.
UNBEARABLY CUTE. I can't wait for fifteen years from now when she and George are holy terrors and we can be like, "aw, I remember when you two were just TINY LITTLE BABIES" and then adolescent eyes will be rolled.
Wow, Prince Carl Philip's fiancee Sofia has a really directional sense of style.
I jest. It was raining. I ASSUME. God, the truth is that I would love it if she looked as wacky as possible all the time. Maxima can't do it all.
Chuckles and Cammy popped over to Cornwall -- well, it IS their Duchy -- to eyeball cider and look at cheeses, which seems like a great vacation to ME.
"Babykins, squash over so I can sample some of this cheese."
This appears to be the moment where Chaz realizes his suit is not, in fact, blue.
Camilla cut a cake with a sword at a dairy. (That's like Royals Mad Libs: "[ROYAL FAMILY MEMBER] [VERB] a [NOUN] at a [PLACE]." Think of the possibilities! "Kate Middleton races a cat at a prison." "Prince William stabs a chair at a hair salon." "Prince Harry eats a cucumber at a Girl's Dormitory." This could go on ALL DAY.)
DOES everyone look hotter in sunglasses?
These are the construction workers who helped renovate Reading Railway Station in Berkshire, and basically, I just thought this picture was extremely awesome.
Ditto this. I can only hope that the moment after this was snapped, she pushed past those two sets of shoulders, jazz-hands a-twitter, singing a jaunty tune.
