Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II official birthday celebration, Windsor, UK - 13 Jun 2020
Because Trooping the Color was cancelled this year due to coronavirus, they held a tiny parade for the Queen and only the Queen to mark her birthday in Windsor on Saturday. Given the BLM protests in London over this weekend, it feels bizarre that this even happened; to have it occur simultaneously with massive human rights protests is tone-deaf at best to me. It is also disappointing to me that so far, beyond a post from Heads Together, none of the world's active royals that I have seen had said anything about what looks like a watershed global human rights moment.

Chaz and Cams are out finally, and seem quite happy about it. Here, they're bidding farewell to "frontline key workers who who have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic during a visit to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital." I have to say, I've thought more lately than ever before if whether or not the British monarchy will continue once the Queen dies. I have more doubts than I used to? Not that I, in any way, know what I am talking about.

French President Macron is in London to mark the 80th anniversary of former French president Charles de Gaulle's appeal to French people to resist the Nazi occupation during World War II.

Camz got to go dig out one of her massive hats out of the back of the cupboard because apparently Macron is in London to "present the Legion d'Honneur - France's highest distinction - to London, for services during WW2 [and]...to mark the 80th anniversary of former French president Charles de Gaulle's appeal to French people to resist the Nazi occupation during World War II." Resisting Nazis seems like a very pertinent message!

Well. I guess now I own a photo of Wills sticking a thermometer in his ear to make sure he doesn't have a temperature because we're in a global fatal pandemic.

He and Kate also went out today to, I guess, encourage people to go spend money at local small business. You all know how I feel about masks so I will not belabor it here but please know that I did think it. Wills looks like he's thinking, "I've never BOUGHT anything before, how does this work?!" (He's actually just trying to figure out contactless payment.)

Catherine Duchess of Cambridge talks to Martin and Jennie Turner, owners of the Fakenham Garden Centre in Norfolk, during her first public engagement since lockdown. The garden centre is near her Anmer Hall home and, as a keen gardener, the Duchess wanted to hear how the Covid-19 pandemic had affected the family-run independent business, which first opened in 1984.

While he was doing that, Kate went over to Fakenham Garden Centre: "The garden centre is near her Anmer Hall home and, as a keen gardener, the Duchess wanted to hear how the Covid-19 pandemic had affected the family-run independent business, which first opened in 1984." This whole outfit is VERY on-brand for Kate.

I know the Dutch aren't doing the mask thing -- please wear masks, friends! -- but I actually feel like of all people, Maxima would get into coordinating masks with her looks. Anyway here she is wistfully watching a child play an accordian.
