Princess Anne at Order of the Garter

Anne's skepticism takes no holiday! Not even when she's wearing a rather silly dramatic ceremonial outfit.

Queen Elizabeth

Her Majesty still knows how to make a dramatic exit! And a round of applause for those pageboys holding her train. They are both adorable.

Wills

"I miss Kate. I wonder what Kate's doing right now. Does Kate miss ME?"

Camilla and Sophie (in Emilia Wickstead)

The Royal Ladies Order of the Garter Group-Text must have specified black and white patterns.

Sophie in Emilia Wickstead

Leaving aside Sophie's watch, I feel like I could say that this was a photo from a period film and you'd totally believe it. She looks fab here.

Princess Anne

It's rare to see Anne's face arranged in such a pleasant manner; I believe she is waving at her mother.

QEII

"We are DELIGHTED that we can wear sunglasses in public now. Even we look hotter in them."

QEII

NO ONE loves Royal Ascot like the queen does.

Fergie

"Oi!!! I'm IN THE ROYAL BOX WITH THE QUEEN!"

Fergie, Bea, Andrew

So, yes, Fergie was at Ascot today -- she attended last year as well, but I cannot remember if she was allowed up into the Royal Box or not? -- and she and Andrew spent the entire time seemingly flirting. JUST GET BACK TOGETHER OFFICIALLY, YOU TWO.

Fergie, Bea, Andrew

Even Bea is like, "ha ha ha no seriously, come on, you're not fooling anyone."

Duke of Cambridge visits the International Business Festival

"Hello! Is my suit dark dark blue, or black? This question is on the top of the agenda for the next meeting of the Blue Suit Enthusiastics Club!"

Wills Visits Liverpool

In which, per Informative Caption, "Clare Mountbatten introduces the Prince William to guests in the garden during a visit to James' Place in Liverpool...James' Place is a non-clinical centre for men in suicidal crisis which will fully open in mid July." That's a great cause; The Cambridge/Sussexes really ARE devoted to mental health causes and I think it will do a great deal of good. (Clare Mountbatten is married to Will's third cousin four times removed or whatever; her son is also Cressida Bonas's current beau.)

Wills, etc

Here, Wills "is greeted by General Timothy Granville-Chapman (2R), Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster (2L) and John Peace (L) as he arrives to attend the official handover of the newly built Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC), which will provide world-class rehabilitation facilities for members of the Armed Forces." ALSO a good cause! Hugh Grosvenor is one of George's godparents and he is also very very VERY VERY VERY very very very rich. Which is why his family was able to put three hundred million pounds into this center

Chaz and Cams visit Salisbury

Camilla wears this dress a lot and I must admit that it's my favorite of hers. I love it.

Duchess of Cornwall launches the Elephant Family's Concours d'elephant

This was an event for Camilla's late brother's elephant conservation charity, and for a moment, I thought she was ringing a tiny bell. (It's a horn.)

Chaz and Cams at Ascot

These two also went to Royal Ascot like 75% of the time; this color is good on Camilla.

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visits Groningen

Maxima is back at work, after her sister's tragic death by suicide a few weeks ago. She looks very sad, as you would imagine. I really want to hug her. There are photos from this week where she seems close to tears; you don't really realize HOW cheery and full of life Maxima always is, until she isn't. I LOVE YOU MAX.

Queen Maxima

I'm also sure that everyone she is meeting at this things is extending their condolences, and the whole thing is just emotionally draining and hard.

Queen Maxima

However! It is nice of the Netherlands to give her a GIANT spool to cheer her up.

Felipe and Letizia Visit the United States

Felipe and Letizia were here in the US this week -- did any of you see them? Here, they're posing with, per Informative Caption: "Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, third left, and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, fourth right." Informative Caption also says that F and L are "in New Orleans to help celebrate the city's 300th anniversary." That's one of my favorite of Letizia's Hugo Boss outfits.

Felipe and Letizia Visit the United States

Letizia's entire wardrobe on this trip has been good, in fact. This is crisp and elegant.

Felipe and Letizia Visit the United States

Here, they're at "the opening of the exhibition 'Masterpieces of Spanish Painting from Madrid Collections' during their visit to San Antonio, Texas," and Letizia's polka dot dress is FABULOUS. The Queen Letizia Style blog informs me that it is a custom piece by Spanish designer Matilde Cano, although it's based on this dress.

Felipe and Letizia Visit the United States

I wish I had a full shot of this dress on her -- it's Carolina Herrera -- but you can see it on Moda Operandi. Also: HELLO DIAMONDS.

Felipe and Letizia Visit the United States

This is "the Rose Window at Mission San Jose, in San Antonio," per Informative Caption, which also notes that "the visit to San Antonio helps celebrate the city's 300th anniversary and also commemorates the Spanish roots of the city."

The Spanish Royals Visit America

Finally, they had to go to the White House. Letizia's pink dress here is GREAT. (It's Michael Kors, and I am obsessed with it.) Melania's Valentino dress is actually great, but as far as she goes, I'm just going to direct you to I Do Really Care.com, where you can donate to fourteen different charities aimed at supporting kids who've been separated from their families at the border, all at once. I don't know enough about Felipe (or Letizia's) personality or politics to make an educated guess about whether or not either of them brought up what's been happening at the Texas border to either Trump; given that they did just literally come from Texas (and that Letizia is a former journalist), it had to be foremost on their minds, as indeed it is on mine.

Albert and Charlene

ABRUPT CHANGE OF SUBJECT: These two were really huggy and lovey at this event and now I think they might make it? I'm talking kissing and everything. Informative Caption tells me, "Prince Albert II of Monaco looks at Princess Charlene after she won with her team the Riviera Water Bike Challenge in support of the Princess Charlene foundation."  I suspect that, like Kate, Charlene is really happy when she gets to go do something sporty.

Charlene and Jacques

Look at this noodle in his sunglasses!

Charlene

Here, Charlene is at the closing ceremony of the Monte Carlo TV festival with Pedro Alonso and Thierry Fremont. Her dress is Carolina Herrera -- Carolina is having an excellent month -- and it's pretty, if very bridal.

Team Skaugum and Nordstrand Allsport football match friendly,

Meanwhile in Norway, Haakon and Mette-Marit and the kids are playing a soccerfootball match for (I assume?) charity (or for the World Cup?) (I don't know!) (It's cute though!)

Crown Princess Victoria

"Oh, the Duchess of Cambridge and I are doing this thing where we trade wardrobes for the week!"

Princess Takamado

And speaking of the World Cup, here Japan's Princess Takamado is eyeballing her team's practice matches. THUMBS UP FOR SOCCER THIGHS INDEED.

Royals Round-Up, June 22nd, 2018

We've got a LOT to cover.
