I hope she got to take the robot home. In fact, I imagine QE2 owning a robot who does a lot of stuff around the house -- pouring cocktails mostly -- in the manner of *The Jetsons* ## QE2 and Phil in Germany ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2015/06/GettyImages-478452290_master.jpg) This is the balcony of the city hall in Frankfurt, and I like to think that it's in QE2's rider that she has to wave from a balcony on every city that she visits. (Interestingly, I read on Wikipedia -- unimpeachable historic and architectural source that it is -- that this building was all but destroyed by Allied bombers during the war, and I've seen a photo of Hitler speaking on the original. It must be, even for the Queen, surreal and amazing to find herself there, even after all of these years. (Her Maj seems to agree.) ## QE2 and Philip ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2015/06/GettyImages-478610986_master.jpg) It's rather sweet when tour 94 year old husband still picks up the flowers you accidentally drop. ## Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2015/06/GettyImages-478614520_master.jpg) Per Informative Caption, today the Queen and Prince Philip visited "the concentration camp memorial at Bergen-Belsen...The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh viewed the grave of Anne Frank and laid a wreath at the inscription wall, before they met two survivors of the camp and as well as two \[British\] liberators." The photographers kept a respectful distance here, which seems only appropriate. I am sure this was a very moving and somber part of their trip, and a very important one. They appear to be boozing it up AND THEY ARE, but in fairness, let's allow Informative Caption to take it away: "The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay enjoy a drink during a visit to the refurbished Clutha bar on June 24, 205 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Duke and Duchess met with a number of people who have been involved in the restoration of the bar, including fundraisers from the Clutha Trust, a charity working to support young people in the aftermath of the helicopter crash in November 2013." (Zalando) Prince George went to a petting zoo with Carole Middleton and OMG he's wearing baby Converse, I cannot take it. That child is quite a squirmy worm at the moment. This is right up our street: The Rival Queens Who Were Basically the Real Housewives of 16th-Century France (Modern Notion) Apparently, Buck House is falling apart -- like, rain pouring into buckets/art has to be moved during storms -- and needs a ton of repairs and QE2 might have to MOVE OUT while they do it, and it's going to cost a fortune, as does the repair of all Great Piles, and you know what that means: 24/7 CHAMPAGNE TOURS. She's apparently just going to decamp to Windsor, which makes sense, but I kind of wish she and Phil would have to bunk with Kate and Wills and the babies for the duration. They could FILM THIS and air it on TV and make ALL the money for the repairs like that! You're welcome, Royal Family. (Hello!) The Daily Mail (I KNOW) has more on this situation and I swear to you guys, I only link to The Mail when it's really worth it, and this article is legitimately interesting, especially about QE2's history with Buckingham Palace and Charles's desire to not live there at all. (In the grand manner of getting things ever so slightly wrong, they do mention the great expense of having to clean the chandeliers last year, and when we were on the tour, we were told that they clean them EVERY year, so you know: Grain of salt. It IS the DMIK. But I think you'll find it interesting. I look forward to Xandra Deane's take on this.)
