You may recognize this snap of Kate, given that it dates from the royals perking off to church on Christmas morning -- you know, Hand-Holding 2013 -- and you may recognize The Lady from that episode of Downton where we found out it was a real thing. Is it weird that I kind of want to read The Lady? (This is from January, so it's not SO random that they used this shot. I only just saw it on Twitter, though, presumably because Kate just wore that hat again). The current issue features an interview with Angela Lansbury AND something about Hitler (I presume something about how someone's ancestor's friend accidentally fell in love with a Nazi in the 30s.)
I know I linked to our coverage of this event below. I just thought this picture was cute.

(a) WHAT is she wearing, and (b) Hello really did a flattering air-brush on Fergie, given that she looks suspiciously far less wrinkled here than she did when we all last saw her in person. She looks both more like herself and much better dressed in the inside shots.
Per Getty Images, "Queen Elizabeth II with Her Excellency Ms Maria Jesus de Mascarenhas, Ambassador from the Republic of Cabo Verde, during a private audience as she presents her credentials." I assume the credentials are like, "hey, Liz, I'm totally actually the ambassador I said I am! See you at the garden party!" I picked Her Excellency for obvious reasons: I like her hat. I also wish her Majesty would do a "What's In My Handbag" feature one of these days. I assume it's like, a handkerchief, some butterscotch candies (she IS an granny. Do British grannys also have butterscotches?), an angry letter she's writing to Shonda Rhimes about how terrible a leader Fitz is, and some pictures of George.
"Just another Friday. More interpretive dance."
Chaz and Cammers are meeting with people who were affected by the recent flooding and where better to do so than a place called TEAPOT ISLAND?l I guess there was some damage to the pots, which I hope can be fixed. Apparently, Teapot Island used to be the largest collection of teapots in the world, but now some dude in China holds the title. I hope he and the Teapot Islanders hate each other with a fiery passion, because the sounds like the beginning of a Murder, She Wrote episode. Their Facebook page has more photos of this visit and some of the teapots they have, and some of those teapots are amazing and okay now I want to go to Teapot Island. I am not kidding. A giant teapot collection is exactly the sort of thing I enjoy.
It's Rudyard Kipling's pipe. Not some random dude's pipe. They were at Rudyard Kipling's house. They didn't just find his pipe accidentally stuck on the top shelf of one of the closets at Clarence House. Additionally, I like her scarf.
They SAID the Queen could use some extra cash, so now Charles is working part time in radiology. Pop by and bring him a scone.
You guys. I LOVE Letizia's pants.
And this leather jacket is really just part of her attempt to continually dress -- as I hypothesized last week -- like a Law & Order ADA. (That's not a criticism.)
Finally! I thought you'd just want to see this, because the picture is awesome and it's very interesting. On Thursday, per Getty, "Major General Ed Smyth-Osbourne (3rd L) conducts the annual Major General's Inspection of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in Hyde Park on March 20, 2014 in London, England. The annual Major General's Inspection, by Major General Ed Smyth-Osbourne, takes place to check the regiment ahead of their State Ceremonial duties for the year." Those are some HATS and UNIFORMS and HORSES. It could be 200 years ago. I love it. (Except I'm cool with it being now because 200 years ago I would not be allowed to vote.)
