Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Amsterdam just in advance of the Nuclear Security Summit and this is from a state dinner they threw for him. I am not that hot on her dress -- it's Valentino, and I wish it had two sleeves -- but HELLO TIARA. As usual, The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor has the whole scoop on this tiara;
Earlier during the visit, she wore this cape -- well, I guess technically, it is a VERY SWINGY COAT, as there are sleeves she isn't using -- and this enormous bow-neck blouse and the whole thing is pretty crazy and I still kind of love it.
This is very elegant, but I might wish the waistline hit either a quarter of an inch in either direction.
The Nuclear Security Summit was, as I just mentioned, held earlier this week in The Hague, so Maxima had a lot of official events to attend and I have to say, she really brought it. This green is quite chic.
Sorry for all the world leaders in suits taking up vital outfit space in this pic -- although everyone looks quite sharp -- but this was the only pic in which we could see her shoes, and, you know, PRIORITIES.
Over in Spain, Letizia looked pretty great in this -- it's by Felipe Valera, and I guess she's worn it before. I always feel like it looks related to the Temperley line that spawned this dress of Kate's. ANYWAY, it's lovely on her and I like the faux-bob.
See, her hair is just pinned under.
She also looked very elegant and EXTREMELY appropriate at the funeral of former Spanish prime minister Adolfo Suarez.
Sophie went OUT this week. I feel like if Kate wore a halter top this saucy on the sides, people would CLUTCH THEIR PEARLS (ridiculously; and not you guys. OTHER people) and freeeeaaaaak out. It's got a low back as well. It's pretty on her, and an interestingly sexy choice.
This is also lovely. I am all about that necklace.
The Queen is 87 and I sincerely think she has been blessed with an extremely sturdy constitution because she goes out more than I do. Those Windsors are long-lived and hearty. Here, I like the idea that the people at Lloyd's are all, "and this is our ELEVATOR" and she's all, I KNOW WHAT AN ELEVATOR is. I saw a photo from her point of view (well, rather) from this event, though, and basically this elevator faces an atrium lined by open walkways and basically EVERYONE who works at Lloyd's is crammed out there, watching her shoot past them.
The Queen Elizabeth here is at a reception celebrating the 800th anniversary of the Royal Watermen, who basically pop up whenever the Queen is going somewhere on the Thames. They used to row The Royal Barge. Ah, my kingdom for a barge.
Here's a close-up of her hat, which is A TREAT.
You know I love it when the Queen meets with ambassadors and I always pick the ambassador with the most beautiful garb. This is Abderahamane Assane Mayaki, the the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger and his robe is sincerely stunning.
"We are delighted by this crazy story you're telling us about selfies right now."
"You have a point, your majesty. This rug is hideous."
Fergie's in New York, New Yorkers! (In the same dress she wore last week; she must love it.)
This is the part of the slideshow where Charles and Camilla do random things like point at people...
....wave squashes about...
And get their drink on. Well, I guess that's not all that random. We're ALL done that.
