I LOVE this hat on Beatrice. I also find it very interesting that Bea has had her Royal Duties increased visibly over the last couple of months; The Firm is definitely having the Younger Generation Do More Stuff now, as the Queen gets older, and it's going to be fun for all of us, Hats Wise. (Eugenie, of course, is still allegedly working in New York.)
The Express has a much better look at the rest of her outfit; I actually love that skirt.
(That's Holly Branson with her, of the Richard Bransons.) EVERYONE went to the Flower Show this year -- perhaps to see the daffodils they named after George -- including Prince Harry, who, as Fug National Tina told us earlier this week, came in on the DL, which is why I have no photos of it. Everyone loves a flower show! (Even Benedict Cumberbatch brought his mum!) Regarding Beatrice, Also, Heather and I had this conversation about Beatrice the other night, where we discussed the fact that she always has a kind of WTF? look on her face; I decided she has Resting WTF face. Never more than here.
I love her for wearing those shoes. Seriously.
The Windsors are so jaunty and long-lived. William is going to be like sixty-five when he gets to be King. I will have to cover the Coronation via, like, hologram mind-zapping or whatever we're doing at that point in the future, from my Cheesecake Lanai on Hawaii.
Our photo service indicated that the Queen made a comment about that sweet guide dog at this event, which of course she would. I feel like a great way to get the Queen to come over and chat you up would be to cover yourself in corgis.
Prince Philip is 92 and Wikipedia claims that makes him the oldest ever man in the British royal family, which I guess makes sense because there are far fewer people dying in duels, jousting accidents, of the plague, or by the poisoned hand of their political rivals nowadays. (I do hope that when he finally kicks off -- hopefully not for awhile, hang in there Phil -- it IS via a joust gone awry. Because that's the way to go after a long and fruitful life.)
"I mean, LOOK AT THIS THING. Have you EVER seen an uglier rug? WHY won't they swap it out?"
That being said, we hardly EVER see Her Majesty in a pattern, and how cute is this? I LOVE it on her.
"Actually, I am ALL about patterns this week. Check out this saucy skirt. Well, flowers for the flower show, no? I understand the power of theme."
The Chelsea Flower Show is one of those events where the photographers really enjoy themselves, you can tell. All the pictures on the wire are, like, arty shots of the Queen LURKING IN THE BUSHES, like so.
Or like such. This is so funny to me.
Then she popped over to Portsmouth to let people shoot things ceremonially over her head. (I actually don't know what is happening here, but it LOOKS like that top line of sailors are showing her their tambourines, which I hope is the truth.)
"Does this hat look too much like a cake? I DON'T CARE."
"And then I said, 'no, Kate. If Harry's really bothering you, you grab him like THIS and just SHAKE SOME SENSE into him.' It always works for me."
We are delighted by something.
"WHAT is Jennifer Lawrence WEARING? Someone get the lass out of her Dior contract, am I right?!"
Squashy babies! There was a cute story out this week about Mia and Prince George being introduced; apparently George threw food at her and she slept the whole time. That sounds about right.
I do not even know what Noted Delight Queen Maxima is doing here -- trying not to fall over? -- but I do love her.
This is VERY va-va-voom on Letizia; if only she hadn't given up when she got to her feet.
It was also THEIR 10th anniversary this week; she always looks so much more relaxed in her casual gear. Bonus points for that bag.
"So far, so good. Guess we'll try for another ten years."
No better way to end this than with a Royal Wedding Balcony Flashback!
