"Kate? Kate, did you steal any of those pastries? I'm starving. Pass me a croissant. I know you've got one in your pocket. You smell like butter."

The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Visit Scotland

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (19)

!!!!!!!!!!!!

(a) This is AMAZING. I really REALLY hope they got to bring it home and Kate's hung it in George's day nursery.

(b)PLEASE tell me this is made of candy. I love it. (Apparently, it is. Thanks to Fug National Anna N. for the info!)

Prince William and Ivan Gazidis (chief executive of Arsenal)

There's going to be A LOT of people at soccerfootball matches in the next few months, thanks to the upcoming World Cup -- whee! I don't even really follow soccer and I love the World Cup! -- and I can only hope there's as much pointing as in this photo from today's friendly between England and Peru.

Mia TIndall

Because this photo hit the wires too late for me to put it in last week's Royals Round-Up, here's little Mia Tindall (that's her aunt, Autumn -- Peter Phillips's wife -- holding her). She ALSO has some very cute cheeks.

Queen Maxima Of Holland At The Four Freedom Awards in Middelburg

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (4)

Off to visit with the Queen of the Netherlands, who was all over the place this week and in a grand array of HATS. I wish the sleeves were symmetrical on this.

These earrings are great, and I think that hat would nicely lend itself to drinking champers by the infinity pool. (I decided Fug Compound has an infinity pool. With a swim up bar. On the non-infinite side. The finite side, if you will.)

King Willem-Alexander And Queen Maxima Visit Lower-Saxony

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (7)

She LOVES a two-tone shoe, although I suppose one of the tones here is "clear plastic."

That sort of says it all about this hat, doesn't it?

King Willem-Alexander And Queen Maxima Of The Netherlands Visit North Rhine-Westphalia

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (10)

W-A seems endlessly delighted by Maxima, which makes me happy. She DOES seem endlessly delightful, is the thing. This whole thing is very Elegant Mother of the Bride.

I am less in love with this hat. I like the shape -- despite being wacky - but the color is a little bland on such a colorful broad.

It's a BIT like some hose have dropped gently onto her scalp.

Queen Maxima

I wish I had a better shot of this dress! I love the color -- very appropriate - and her hair looks great here.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands

The pants she is wearing with this turban, however, are horrendous and let's all be glad I couldn't get a real photo of them. They were unkind.

Princess Letizia of Spain

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (11)

This is all together far too beige. A pop of color, lady! You ARE a princess. Bring a little jazz to the proceedings.

Princess Beatrice and Dave Clark

Back to Great Britain: Bea's Resting WTF?!? Face is never more glorious than in this photo. I also think her jacket is cute.

The Household Cavalry Standards Parade

I always like to toss in a photo of Ceremonial Shenanigans.

"I claim this land for ENGLAND! Oh, wait, this land is already claimed for England. Whatever. Carry on."

Princess Anne

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (14)

I always like to see Anne in her Household Cavalry Uniform. You know she has smacked someone with the broadside of that sword in her UNRELENTING CRUSADE FOR TRUTH. (I believe Harry wore his version of this uniform at The Wedding, but I'm sure one of you knows for sure.)

Princess Anne

Royals Round-Up May 30 2014 (16)

This is totally going to be the cover of the DVD boxed set of the TV show they make about her secret life as a crime-fighter.

The Title Has a Ring to It

I love this pink on The Queen. I also wonder how many pairs of those shoes she owns.

One of you was just looking for a photo of Camilla drinking! HERE IS ONE! Cheers!

Royals Round-Up, May 30 2014
As ever, a terrific amount to cover! Turbans! Babies! Hats! More hats! HUGE hats! (Maxima really brought it this week.) Ceremony! Rugs! Here on GFY, we covered: William and Kate's Whisky-Filled jaunt to Scotland, although I've got some extra tidbits in this slideshow from that as well, as you will see, including an AMAZING PIECE OF ART. (Let's consider The Question of the Bum fully covered -- er, no pun intended -- and leave the feisty discussions there, shall we? Thanks for everyone being cool about it, even during disagreements, also. You guys are great.) Harry cavorted with children, flashed his abs, made a pizza, and made friends with livestock. And, we decided, also met his future wife. That's all. We suffered through another week of Fake Harry "wooing" what seem to be some of the dimmest bulbs in the American firmament on Episode Two of I Wanna Marry "Harry." AIR QUOTES REQUIRED. And, finally, we eyeballed Charlene and Albert and a variety of his nephews at the Monaco Grand Prix, and wrote many a coded ode to her (fictional [OR IS HE?]) lover/bodyguard, Sven. Elsewhere, for your Royals Reading Pleasure: Charlene IS pregnant. WHAT DID I TELL YOU? I KNEW IT. Apparently, Princess Anne's ex-husband (Zara and Peter's father) has left his second wife to "set up home with" a thirty-five year old equestrienne, which, you know, eye-roll, BUT the thing that was juicy to me in this is that the article off-handedly mentions that Anne and Mark Phillips divorced because he fathered a child with someone else. I didn't know any of this. ESCANDALO. Tell me everything. (Hello!) (NOTE: this story, it turns out, is two years old -- the way I came across it was misleading and then I didn't double-check the date; my bad. But it's still full of some JUICY GOSSIP including some from thirty years ago, anyway, so I'm keeping it up.) Vanity Fair has the details of Prince Harry's upcoming trip to Brazil and Chile. Just in time for the World Cup! Royal Correspondent has video of Harry Cavorting With the Children this week, also. In Other Interesting Videos, the people at Historic Royal Palaces used 3-D printing to recreate Henry VIII's crown. It's VERY COOL to watch. The State Opening of Parliament is next week and the whole shebang sounds VERY DRAMATIC. To wit: "Before The Queen and the royal party set off for Parliament, a hostage is taken by The Queen (not personally) from the Houses of Parliament to Buckingham Palace where they’ll stay for the duration of the state opening. This custom is longstanding convention derived from a time when Parliament and the Monarch were on less cordial terms (Parliament famously chopped the head off of King Charles I in 1649), though the hostage is treated well at the Palace and is released upon the safe return of Her Majesty." Royals Central has all the details. Next month, Kate is touring Bletchley Park (which has been recently restored, apparently, so visitors can experience what it would have been like to be a codebreak) and meet with WWII codebreaker veterans. THESE ARE ALL THINGS I AM INTERESTED IN. Katie Nicholl over at Vanity Fair says Harry tried to win Cressy back with dinner, but I think we all know that his heart lies with Edwina. Kate says George has Spider-Man jammies. Royals ARE just like us. (E!) The Court Jeweller counts down the Top Ten Royal Emeralds. I LOVE emeralds, which is nice as it's my birthstone and obviously I am often showered with gems. Some of these are STUNNING. I couldn't get any of these photos, but Royals Central has a look at a variety of ensembles on Sophie Wessex when they were in Scotland last week.
