Prince Harry Attends the Opening Match of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup

Come on, y'all! Harry ALSO needs a hat!

Prince Harry

"Do you like this waistcoat? I'm trying a more subtle waistcoat experience now that I'm a parent."

Beatrice, Eugenie, Harry

Euj and Bea were also at this garden party, and I mostly pulled this photo -- where they both are mid-stride and accordingly look sort of awkward -- so you could see their shoes. Eugenie LOVES those metallic ones and rightly so.

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice

Euj is SUCH a fan of the non-color. She actually looks fine in this, but imagine it in, say, an emerald green. Bea looks wacky but in a way that feels very right for the occasion? I appreciate their risk-taking, regardless.

Prince Charles visits Dorset

Chaz is in Dorset "to view an exhibition, including one of his own watercolours, as part of the Open for Art project," and I enjoy that, in this photo, he looks like the most nattily-dressed instructor at an art school in olden times.

Princess Anne attends a parade at Picton Barracks

In case you ever wondered why I'm always making a joke that Princess Anne is a detective of some sort, it's because of how often her face does this.

But that dress under there might be surprisingly new and modern for her? (She is a woman who never throws out any of her clothing.)

Audience at Buckingham Palace,

Here, Her Maj "presents Simon Armitage with The Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry upon his appointment as Poet Laureate." She looks like she's rethinking this decision as she's doing it. (I of course also enlarged this to see the pictures on the table behind her: There's definitely Wills and Kate, and I think Harry and Meghan are in front of them, and then I think the pic of the two men are also Wills and Harry. Very Wales Brothers heavy, that table!)

Garden Party at Buckingham Palace

The Queen looks delighted AND delightful here!

World Cup Cricket Captains Audience

And here, she's meeting "West Indies cricket captain Jason Holder (right), South Africa cricket captain Francois du Plessis (left) and Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne (centre). The captains of the teams taking part in the ICC Cricket World Cup met for a photograph in the 1844 Room at Buckingham Palace in London, ahead of the competition's Opening Party on the Mall." I do appreciate that the Queen was like, "hmmmmm, you know what? I DO think I want to meet some tall, young, athletic men. I'M DOING THAT ENGAGEMENT, PUT IT IN MY BOOKS!"

King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima

They're visiting Betuwe, Netherlands, and this is a photo for their piano, which must be crammed with them!

"Here, I brought you a tree in a bucket."

Maxima opens new nursing home

Literally everything about this photo is perfect and amazing.

Queen Maxima

Also, good news: Despite appearances here, this is a skirt and NOT culottes.

72nd Holland Festival, opening night

This is a SNAZZY GET-UP, as my grandmother would have said.

Jordanian Royals host Iftar at the Children's Museum

Queen Rania looks very glam in this.

Queen Letizia

The shoes make this more interesting -- also, this was the best shot I had of this dress; in other snaps, she looked MUCH less like she was tromping to the guillotine.

Felipe and Letizia

But this has a real Dorothy Zbornak vibe that I'm not loving.

Queen Letizia

This is super summery and cute though!

Princess Mabel

Princess Mabel here is Willem-Alexander's sister-in-law -- she was married to the prince who recently died after being in a coma for several years after getting caught in an avalanche, and she was in a big scandale when they got engaged due to how she dated a drug lord and ALSO a married Bosnian UN ambassador, and Parliament didn't give them permission to marry but they went and got married ANYWAY and he had to give up his place in the line of succession. (Wow, that sentence was VERY soapy.)  But now she does a lot of work for human rights organizations and is here hanging out with this VERY FANTASTIC drag queen at an AIDS benefit. (I do not know this queen's name but if you do, tell me, so I can update this post. She looks great.)

Charlene and Al

Well! This look is a very specific choice. She always wears some kind of nutty pants-related thing to this race-car-driving event thing. (Also specific!!)

Sainte Devote Rugby Tournament

How cute is it that Gabriella and Albert are in matching blazers?? (And Jacques and Charlene, of course, are in matching Cool Sunglasses.)

Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella

What groovy little noodles!

Royals Round-Up, May 31st, 2019
