King's Day

Hello. Maxima continues to be THE BEST, if you were concerned.

King's Day,

OF COURSE she is wearing palazzo pants. I love her. The whole Dutch royal family looks lovely here, actually. All the girls are are growing up so fast!

King's Day

Ummmmm, to whom do I speak about getting this installed on the side of my house?

The London Marathon

Prince Harry came out to cheer everyone running the marathon in London this weekend. Here he is with the winners, Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei. Everyone looks so happy!

Wills

"And, verily, I say unto ye, I knowth not where this baby is, you guys, babies are mysterious!" (In reality, Informative Caption tells me that Wills is "reading during a service to recognise fifty years of continuous deterrent at sea in his capacity as Commodore-in-Chief of the Submarine Service, at Westminster Abbey in London. Royalty, politicians and military chiefs are gathering at Westminster Abbey to mark half a century of Britain's sea-borne nuclear arms program _ though organizers insist they are not thanking God for atomic weapons." Good to know!!!)

Sophie Wessex visits India

Sophie has been in India this week  -- on her own, Edward didn't go -- and she's really done a LOT. Here, she's at "a reception at the Deputy High Commissioner's residence Hyderabad where she met graduating midwives." Sophie does seem like a good egg.

Sophie Wessex visits India

Sophie visited several hospitals on this trip -- this is the Niloufer Hospital -- and doesn't this totally look like the opening credits of a medical drama, and like she is about to save your freaking life with the ground-breaking surgery she invented?

And this is the Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, also in Hyderabad, where she visited the NICU. Lady Louise was a preemie and in the NICU for a while, so Sophie is personally very accustomed to this and I'm sure it was meaningful to make this visit. Can we please talk about this sweet baby's fantastic head of perfect hair? (He or she is clearly like, "I AM TRYING TO NAP HERE DO YOU MIND.")

Sophie Wessex visits India

I need to know more about THIS tiny child as well. (I have some concerns about Sophie's trousers on this trip, generally speaking. )

Sophie Wessex visits India

"Hey guys, what's up?" (These might be my faves of Sophie's Pants of India.)

Sophie Wessex visits India

Here, she's at the Padmanagar Apnalaya Health Clinic in Mumbai, with Aditya Kulkarni, and someone else who informative caption did not ID for me, which is NOT INFORMATIVE.

Sophie Wessex visits India

AH! Here is some Information: "Sophie, Countess of Wessex, joins the British High Commissioner at a reception to celebrate the collaborative efforts to advance eye health in India. The Countess will deliver a speech in which Her Royal Highness will reflect on the progress achieved by The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust and encourage efforts to continue and be upscaled, to ensure that vision is brought to everyone, everywhere. The reception will recognise the ambition to create a Vision Catalyst Fund driven by public and private sector organisations who are coming together to accelerate health systems change and to expand universal eye health coverage across the globe." Good for everyone!

Sophie Wessex Visits India

This dress is...fine? I don't love the shoes. Sophie is fairly stylish, but this is not her most successful sartorial trip. (The woman she's with, who was not indentified in Informative Caption, looks great though.)

Sophie Wessex

Like, this is just not great on her. I know India is warm, but pack some shirtdresses and get on with it.

Ah, here's a piano pic for you!

"STILL NO BABY? Come ON, Meghan!"

Audience at Buckingham Palace

Meanwhile, back in London, the Queen here is greeting the High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Saida Muna Tasneem, whose sari is VERY PRETTY.

Camz

Camz went over to Aldershot for a medals parade, and she looks sharp as hell in this look. (Chaz is in Scotland flarging around in a kilt right now with sheep and I assume she's been sending him sassy texts. "With sheep" is not some weird joke, he's literally with some sheep. Scotland has a lot of sheep, I learned when we were there. I also learned that I guess I can't see a sheep without screeching the word, "sheep!!!!!" which I'm sure was fun for Heather.)

Camz and a Baby

This is little Cara May Campbell and she WANTS TO EAT THAT HAT. (There are a lot of cute small children in this post.)

Camz

I enjoy that this photo makes it look like Camz and this foal are really side-eyeing someone's behavior at this event.

Queen Letizia visits Mozambique

Letizia is currently in Mozambique, and here she is with its President Filipe JNyusi, and First Lady Isaura Nyusi. Both skirts in this photo are good!

Queen Letizia visits Mozambique,

Informative Caption tells me that Queen Letizia is "in Mozambique to visit some of most affected areas of the country hit by Idai cyclone." I somehow did not know how bad this cyclone was -- the news cycle is a constant hellstorm shitshow  --  but it was a real mess and they still need help.

Emperor Abdication in Tokoyo

I wish I had more photos of this! Our photo services are VERY hit or miss when it comes to covering the Japanese Imperial Family. But here, Informative Caption tells us that "Japan's Emperor Akihito speaks during the ceremony of his abdication, in front of other members of the royal families and top government officials." I'm going to link to some Informative Stories about how this whole thing works in the post.

Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako

So, Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako here are at "Emperor Akihito's 'Taiirei-Seiden-no-gi', a ceremony where the Emperor made his last public declaration before his abdication at the Seiden (State Hall) of the Imperial Palace... Emperor Akihito, 85, is the first Japanese emperor to abdicate the throne in the modern era. Crown Prince Naruhito will be crowned emperor on 01 May, which will mark the beginning of the Reiwa period. He is expected to formally ascend to the throne during an enthronement ceremony in October 2019." Okay! that WAS Informative. That will be interesting.  Masako looks very elegant here. As ever, I hope she is well.

King Carl Gustaf's 73rd Birthday Celebrations,

Sweden had a grand old time celebrating the King's birthday. Little Old Man Prince Oscar continues to be A TREAT AND A HALF.

He's so animated. (And Estelle is getting so tall! Cue Sunrise, Sunset.)

King Carl Gustaf's 73rd Birthday Celebrations

SMOOCHIES.

King Carl Gustaf's 73rd Birthday Celebrations

I just felt like you might want to see Prince Carl Philip here. No reason. No reason at all.

Crown Princess Victoria visit to Greece

After her Dad's birthday, CPV popped over to Greece for a few days to walk around in her fashion sneaks.  Here, she's "at the Museum of the Ancient Agora in Athens where she will participate in the seminar 'Challenges and opportunities related to a new climate economy: driving innovation for sustainable development'." Also, presumably, where she will walk around and look at interesting things.

Crown Princess Victoria visit to Greece

I mean, this seems miserable and hideous, she must be so sad to have to be in this very unscenic place!!!!!

Princess Benedikte's 75th birthday dinner in Copenhagen

I wish I hd a better pic of this event, because these two look DISHY.
