I find this portrait to be truly unfortunate. Informative Caption tells us that this is QEII looking at "a new portrait marking six decades of patronage to the British Red Cross, which has been unveiled at Windsor Castle." Eyeballs tell us that it looks like she's wearing a nightcap but hasn't slept in a week.

"What's all this then with the hat?"
"Well, Your Majesty, it's a tiara and your hair, actually, and...
"Is THAT what you think my cheeks look like?"
"Pardon, Ma'am, but if you'll just..."
"I look terribly jowly and cross. We'll leave the portrait up for an hour and then bung it in the shed."

This is a snap from earlier in the week that I only just stumbled across and thought you might want to admire. Harry, you're very handsome. (Also...I am worried about your hairline.)

Hot Royal Photog Chris Jackson got very artsy with this picture of Wills at some event this week. This is totally the photo that's going to go on the cover of the book about the succession crisis that breaks out five years from now.

"Hello, hello! I knew I forgot something tonight and it was MY HAT!"

Well. This is a VERY UNEXPECTED season of The Bachelor.

Here, Wills "talks with staff members as he tours Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital where he saw the 'Step into Health' military employment program," and this skeleton hoped desperately that the prince liked his groovy pink scarf.

This is a "reception for The Kennedy Memorial Trust, [which] was established in 1964 to create and maintain a British memorial to President John F Kennedy. Funds raised through a public appeal created a living memorial in the form of an annual scholarship program enabling British citizens who are also graduates of British universities to study at Harvard University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology." That's nice! We welcome you, British scholars!

I decided that QE2 has made the executive decision to just go EVERYWHERE like this now.

It's Pose For Official Photographs Season again!

I decided that Her Majesty, Annie Lennox, and Richard E Grant need to put together a traveling improv show. For charity.

It's also Look At My Rug! season. Here, the Queen welcomes the Ambassador from the United Arab Emirates, Sulaiman Hamid Almazroui, and his wife Alia Bastish, who is fully checking out the rug.

Here, Princess Eugenie is chatting with "The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster, to attend a service to commemorate the work of William Wilberforce and mark the United Kingdom's commitment to combat modern slavery at Westminster Abbey." She looks pretty. This dress is slightly fashion-forward in a way I appreciate.

Allow me to turn this over to Informative Caption. Ahem: "Albania's pretender to the throne, Crown Prince Leka Zogu II, the grandson of self-proclaimed King Zog, and his wife Elia Zaharia wave as they leave the Palace of Brigades after their wedding ceremony in Tirana." This guy's father's Wikipedia is A THING. It includes bazookas. The guns, not the gum.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia finished up their tour of Germany this week, and I have to say that Silvia is Elegant Lady #Goals for me in this outfit.

Phil and Math are visiting Japan this week, and Mathilde has looked, on average, quite nice!

Those shoes, of course, are straight out of the Box of Royal Ladies Shoes of Great Snooze, but the day dress is very pretty on her.

Empress Michiko looks VERY ELEGANT here; that jacket/cape/jacket is STELLAR on her. I wish to look even partially this chic, like, ever. I liked Mathilde's look when I thought that was a skirt, but I think it's a dress?

I decided that, here, Mathilde was like, "IT'S GOURD SEASON! Let's drag out my absolutely MOST autumnal gown!"

Here, Philippe and Mathilde are pictured with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, Akie. She apparently disagrees with him publicly all the time and used to be a disc jockey. She might be a hoot. Everything in this photo is shiny!

Empress Michiko can REALLY work a neutral. I like Mathilde's dress, and REALLY like her clutch -- although it might be too matchy with this specifically for my taste?

I TOLD YOU it was going to be open season for Royal Red Shoes -- and behold! I sort of want to see this dress on Kate, actually.

I feel like this is the expression Maxima makes whenever you tell her about the newest dude you're dating. Also: Great bracelet, lady.

I NEVER thought we'd be in a Who Wore It Better? battle between Maxima and Bryce Dallas Howard. But here we are.

Wednesday was National Day in Spain, and this is a GLORIOUS dress (coat? Coat-dress?) on Letizia.

There was another shot -- that I couldn't get -- where Letizia is gripping Leonor's face with that gentle way that a mother uses to say, "you're adorable, I love you, BEHAVE." I suspect these girls are two cute little handfuls. (That is not a criticism. I was also a handful.)

These two are so cute.

This might be my favorite thing Letizia has ever worn. Seriously.
