Someone just saw a lady he'd like to chat up by the open bar. Harry's remarks at this event were rather amusing, in fact. To wit:"'I am not entirely sure who made the seating plan but I am sitting between two men. I thought it would just be 100 women and myself."
Cue everyone giggling. Including me. He then made a Harry Potter joke. I love YOU, Harry. (You should read the whole article, though. It's quite good.)
So nice, let's see this twice.
This coat is, as they say, giving me life. By which I mean, I love it and I need it, even though I already bought a dress in basically that fabric and I DON'T need ANY MORE COATS. Fug Nation, give me strength.
Allow me to share with you the caption that came with this photo. AHEM: "HRH Crown Princess Mary attends the...Danish auditor's awards, for best Danish CSR reporting." No offense, Danish auditors, but that sounds like kind of a snooze, and that is also how I feel about this ensemble.
THAT SAID! You know I love a pillbox hat, even if this might be a wee bit too far back on her head (I don't know). I love them.
There are some HATS UP IN HERE. HRH Princess Benedikte, for your info, was a bridesmaid at Juan Carlos and Sophia of Spain's wedding, and her husband's father was a Nazi, who was declared dead in the 1960s. I feel like "has a missing Nazi parent" has got to be a bit of a hurdle in terms of convincing your own parents to get on board with your wedding.
Speaking of weddings, Wills and Harry went to one last week, where Harry looked cranky and Wills looked ever balder (I'm sorry William, but it's TRUE. I STILL LOVE YOU. Our love transcends follicles.)
These two are somewhat coordinated for this book launch they went to. I read a very interesting bit of gossip -- I know, I know, these things are unsubstantiated -- wondering if the increasing embrace of Fergie this year (she had her birthday party at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, even) is a sign that a York Sister engagement is eminent and they want to make nice with Fergs for Maximum Lack of Awkwardness. Which would be nice. (Philip, who hates her, is just going to have to deal.) (Maybe Fergie and Andrew can get remarried in a dual ceremony with one of their daughters. That's OBVIOUSLY going to happen.)
Yooj is back in England for birthday purposes, I assume. The color of this coat delights me.
I'd like to see this with more of a LIP, Eugenie. Please report back.
This was during the military parade for Spain's National Day -- which Wikipedia tells me originally had to do with Christopher Columbus, but which is now more of a day that has a military parade and that's it? Wikipedia was not very hot on National Day -- and it's basically the best. Every mother and child in the world have exchanged those looks.
The girls, of course, cheered up for the goat! I wonder if this goat knows Harry's goat. Maybe the Noteworthy Goats of the World have an annual goat conference at various nice grassy knolls around the globe to discuss things like How Not To Eat Your Sovereign's Vestments Even Though They Look Delish, and whose holding pen is the nicest.
The girls look as cute as ever. Letizia looks like she just had a big fight with both of them and is just getting through this event if it KILLS HER. I do like that color on her.
Gosh what a hideous and all together unimpressive space for an event.
This is a rewear for her and I can't decide if the blazer improves the pattern, or not. I rather lean toward letting that pattern get crazy all over the place, though.
Earlier in the week, L and F hung out with the Spanish women's waterpolo and swimming teams. I don't know who they're greeting here, but she looks AWESOME. I feel like Letizia is kind of like, "I wish I'd worn a sassier suit now."
Speaking of sassy, over to the Netherlands, where Maxima's shoes TOTALLY CLASH. MAXIMA. Pull yourself together.
Not that it seems to bother her.
Have giant hat, will travel.
Speaking of traveling, Felipe and Letizia also popped over to the Netherlands to say hi (and presumably have a few drinks).
That red dress is STELLER on Letizia. Maxima looks like she's rethinking the satellite dish on her head.
She's worn this before, and I always appreciate it on her, although Shoes Comment Here, as ever.
Over in the UK, Camilla did a LOT of stuff. She went to the Man Booker Prize!
And actually handed OUT said prize. Richard Flanagan's winning book is called The Narrow Road to the Deep North, and is apparently "a remarkable love story as well as a story about human suffering and comradeship." Have any of you read it? (I have not, yet.)
She also got to pick some Chardonnay grapes...
...and then drink some Chardonnay. (Camilla is ALWAYS the one who's drinking at these things, which makes me think she's probably fun at parties).
Also, her color scheme for the week was clearly BLUE. (This woman is "singer/songwriter Imelda May" and I love her for wearing those shoes.)
I hope by now that it's obvious that I pick the dignitary with the most interesting outfit for this shots.
Her Maj looked lovely at the Tower. It's easier when one isn't LOCKING PEOPLE IN THERE.
This exhibit continues to be stunning.
It does seem to be a universal and correct instinct to wear blue to this event, to better be seen.
And there are a LOT of people who came out to eyeball her. (Everyone on vacay who decided to go to The Tower that day TOTALLY SCORED.)
