Our post about this event was mostly smiles -- as was she -- but we definitely had some Moments of Fleeting Potential Nausea. This feels very "MUST. NOT. BARF. ON. DIGNITARY."
I LOVE this coat, but one of you pointed out that it could use a belt and I think I agree, looking at this picture.
I feel like every single person in this photo is thinking, "PLEASE BE CAREFUL."
Yes, sometimes I just download pictures because I think they are cute. You know this about me by now.
This is the "Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year," Carlos Perez Naval, and this is totally the Perez Naval family's Piano Picture for October.
Here's Kate LEAVING yesterday's events. I like to provide a COMPLETE VIEW of all things. The flash was unkind to the lining of this dress, which is why I suspect we will only ever see it in daylight again.
This is an excellent look at the cut-outs/pattern on the sleeve, here.
And a WAY better look at the back.
I want to share with you the Photo Service's Informative Caption: "Prince Harry seen leaving Quaglinos, the famous brasserie restaurant in the heart of London's Mayfair... Other female guests were seen leaving moments before the Prince but it is not known if they were with the party."
This just makes me giggle. "Prince Harry was at a restaurant. There were WOMEN IN THE RESTAURANT AT THE SAME TIME. ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED!" I wish one of those women would have told Harry that he needs a belt.
Conde Nast Traveller actually had a good article about Quaglino's, which you might enjoy. Apparently, it used to boast VERY steal-able ashtrays.
I feel like this is the Pouty Face he gives William and Kate whenever they're lolling around KP watching TV and they won't let him switch over to Made in Chelsea and force him to sit through a marathon of Antiques Roadshow.
I'm in love with this child. He's like, "big deal. Everyone can levitate a ball. Did I mention that I transferred from Hogwarts?"
I LOVE whatever is happening with this girl standing in front of Harry. I like to think that she basically decided she CAN'T TAKE THIS IT'S TOO EXCITING.
I like to think that as Her Majesty swept bast Cameron here, she was all Victoria Grayson-style smiling widely while hissing, "you're so lucky Scotland decided to stick around or I would be beating you with my umbrella right now." As is, this is one of the most charming things she's worn in ages, I think.
I decided that, before they left the house, Philip was modeling this hat.
I am including this photo for Heather, because she loves the little Royal Standard that flies atop the Queen's car. (It gets retracted once she steps out, and is therefore no longer in vehicular residence.)
"I've been working on this model for MONTHS, Tony," is what she's saying here. I assume. (Actually, they're looking at "a display of Singaporean items from the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace.") I LOVE this floral on the Queen. I would wear that print, and she's got fifty years on me.
Philip: Did you remember to set the DVR for American Horror Story?
Elizabeth: DAMMIT PHIL. Do I really have to do EVERYTHING?!
Philip: Calm down. I did it after I took off your hat. I was just teasing.
She really does love her horse-racing.
QE2 closed out her week tweeting (wearing Tiwtter blue, no less, as Fug National lali pointed out to us on Twitter). She tweeted, "Can't wait to get my drink on tonight! #FinallyFriday." (Or, you know, "It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.")
WAXWORK TIME! This is over at the New York Madame Tussaud's. They appear to have taken possession of The Decent Wills and Kate (not to be confused with the TERRIBLE Wills and Kate), and they've got a new Harry (in the Blue Beret of Great Hotness; I approve) and a new QE2, which basically just looks like a nice old lady to whom the Queen might be very distantly related. Though her outfit feels right.
This is, per our photo caption, "the dedication ceremony of the new memorial to honour women who served in the Land Army during World War Two at The National Memorial Arboretum in Stafford." I like Sophie's purple coat and boot combo. Also, out of the corner of my eye, I thought the Man of the Cloth was wearing a Dracula costume, and I was like, "THIS seems like a PARTY."
This is cute on Mary. I approve of this whole thing. Who doesn't like a leather collar on a blazer?
This coat is wacky -- in a good "I borrowed this from Maxima" kind of way -- and I like seeing that even a Princess's pants will get mildly wonkus over her boots like that, since mine do that all the time. This is maybe not her MOST successful outfit?
They're on a boat! (Going to the opening of Tosca at the Copenhagen Opera House. I learned on this week's Amazing Race that Copenhagen looks awesome.)
I just fully embrace Coat Season.
"I was told there would be NO READING."
Apparently, Princess Anne is currently in Brisbane, wearing sensible shoes and gloves that look weird with her short-sleeved jacket. The better not to get her own fingerprints on the evidence she's collecting, presumably. Watch out, criminals of Australia!
Ahem, per Getty: "Princess Hisako Takamado arrives at the opening ceremony during the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival." THIS WOMAN IS 61 YEARS OLD. Wikipedia also tells me that she has four degrees and was working as an interpreter, and also has published a children's book called Lulie the Iceberg and basically flies everywhere doing interesting things all the time, since her husband died playing squash. (Which we just learned about a couple of years ago.) She looks lovely.
This is sincerely my favorite dress Letizia has ever worn. I LOVE IT. (It's by Felipe Varela, who she wears often.)
I sort of want Letizia to guest on The Good Wife as opposing council. She can wardrobe herself.
Felipe is kind of bringing it in this suit, though. Let's just admit it.
