When you are young and you are Emma Stone -- or Emma Watson, actually -- you can try things that other mortals should flee. Emphasis on CAN, and not SHOULD.
Emma made the comment that she picked this out from a photograph, and I just can't fathom WHY. I like a menswear-inspired outfit, but Jennifer Lawrence already got the Dior jacket frock back in October, and that's where it should have stayed. Here, the skirt is a tired old gambit, and the fact that the dress looks like she's wearing a STRAPLESS SEE-THROUGH NET with a coat over it REALLY kills me. How cheap and wretched it is there between the lapels of the blazer. I dispute the notion that this is glamour. It's just MATERIALS, arranged on the body of a lovely person, waiting for her to make everyone else look smart. And in this case, that task is too Herculean even for Emma.
Also, if you wear a dress that looks REALLY assy unless you have a fluffer to arrange it for you, then you get photos like this.
Also, if anyone needed more proof that transparency is evil, Naomi Watts tripped over it on-stage and nearly did a header. TRANSPARENCY NEARLY KILLED NAOMI WATTS. (Emma's face is basically priceless.)
HOWEVER: THAT FACE. And perfect lipstick (which is as it should be, when one is the face of a cosmetics brand). And, I might just take this photo to my hairdresser and be like, "Truth time: Can I make that color work? And can I do it without going bankrupt?"
