Wonderful color, and the pocket detailing is cool, but the way the bodice dips down to show something see-through just looks like she went out and bought a matching bra and wanted us all to see. So close. Also, something about her head does not look very self-assured. Kind of like she is terrified everyone is going to hate it. I don't, Gretchen, and I thank you for picking green, but... just as the Academy is probably futilely reconsidering not nominating Affleck, the designer needs to reconsider that neckline.
Another unconvinced head. She looks sufficiently unimpressed with life that I am surprised she never played Mary Louise Parker's sister on Weeds (is that show FINALLY over? It is, right?).The dress is pretty, but it's yet another one on the carpet that did not appear to be made for a lady with such mammarial amplitude. Tips: Don't bend over and don't let the jib operator catch you from above.
I had no idea what this dress's true color -- it photographed yellow -- was until I saw it on TV, and then I was able to go back and hunt for the photo that best captured it. My childhood Crayola box would call it Spring Green. I am not sure it fits her as best it can, but Alfre Woodard is awesome and she's commanding that color in a way I think very few people could, so I am not mad at her.
