As Jess said on the night, Rita Moreno's acceptance speech only proved how VERY creepy Diane Keaton's a cappella singing was at the Globes. I hope I can pull off a jacket like that when I'm Rita Moreno's age.
Rita often looks amiably bonkers, but here she looks flat-out fabulous.
Sigh. Her makeup is better in photos than it was on TV -- she did one of the "I'm an ACTOR" introductions and the dark blue eyeshadow was so harsh, and made her look so tired (and her husband looked SO VERY BORED) -- but the dress bums me out. It's unimaginative and half-assed, design-wise. I think she needs to call Amy Adams' stylist, because there's a sameness happening now with her that I think perhaps a different voice in her ear could cure.
We missed her in the Game of Thrones post because she wasn't in one of our subs at all. But we found her in another one. Isn't that INTERESTING I AM SO INTERESTING. Ahem. Anyway. She looks pretty good -- I'm back and forth on the dress, but her face looks great, so... let's give it to her.
I like this Donna Karan -- it's gracefully draped -- but I don't know that her head-styling lives up to the promise of the gown.
The white satiny piece looks so discount to me -- she herself is lovely and the dress fits well, but I'd love for someone to take another crack at that piece to make it more interesting. Alas.
I just don't understand why nobody has suggested to this lovely 17-year old that she is wearing things that actresses forty years her senior would consider.
I actually think the top of that dress is cool; I wish it hit the ground and didn't stop at her ankles. But there's at least something pleasantly wacky about her wearing flats (she said her feet hurt from the Globes still). It IS the SAGs, after all, which ought to be a relaxing night for the actors, cuddled as they all are by the warm embrace of others who understand their toil.
