The pics from the first two years were VERY few and far between -- it was Tom Hanks in a suit, basically, which is obviously something we've NEVER seen before -- but fortunately we do have, from 1997, Vanessa Redgrave looking like Mary Poppins' very bossy mother.

This is mostly pretty good, but needed to be built up by about an inch.

1999: Heather Graham

Yes, that's her hip. Netted, but still.

1999

Miss Bingley will see you now.

1999: Julianne Margulies

Well... her head looks great? Why is her dress cutting her up like that on the sly?

2000: Charlize Theron

This is SO lovely, and so unlike anything she'd wear today.

2000: Lorraine Bracco

She looks super in this, and also as if she's actually on the runway.

2000: Julianne Moore

Did you see that Kiki and Landry are having their second baby?!? I was so happy that I forgot we don't know each other, and commented my congrats on her Instagram. My elation at the news is inversely proportionate to my feelings about this dress.

2000: Cameron Diaz

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Araldo Di Crollalanza/Shutterstock (318278e) CAMERON DIAZ AND CATHERINE KEENER SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS, LOS ANGELES, AMERICA - 2000

I too am underwhelmed, Cam.

This looks VERY sweaty -- I'm sure we're all imagining Ross Gellar making a paste trying to get in and out of leather. But she looks foxy in it.

2001: Lauren Graham

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Bei/Shutterstock (5146724av) Lauren Graham 2001 Screen Actors Guild Awards 3/11/01 Los Angeles, CA Lauren Graham 7th Annual EIF / Screen Actors Guild Awards Photo®Berliner Studio/BEImages

This is so cute, and a great color on her. We just watched the O.G. Mighty Ducks movie with the beans, so I might have to show them the new series at some point (she's on it; it's why she had to leave Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Covid mucked up the shooting schedules).

2001: Allison Janney

Kate wearing a flower feels extremely on-brand. Kate wearing a flower that's halfway down her head for some reason I don't understand is... actually also possibly on-brand.

2001: Debi Mazar

This is a FLAGRANT attempt to woo Fug Nation, even though we didn't exist yet. If I had to pick a celeb who might have psychic powers that she would use for light mischief, I'd pick Debi.

2001: Juliette Binoche

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Bei/Shutterstock (5146724gt) Juliette Binoche 2001 Screen Actors Guild Awards 3/11/01 Los Angeles, CA Juliette Binoche 7th Annual EIF / Screen Actors Guild Awards Photo®Berliner Studio/BEImages

Perhaps a tailcoat OR a lace-up shirt, but not both? And specifically not at all the latter?

2003: Halle

2003: Maria Menounos

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Peter Brooker/Shutterstock (408921bb) MARIA MENOUNOS 9TH ANNUAL SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS, LOS ANGELES, AMERICA - 09 MAR 2003

2003: Angela Bassett

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Peter Brooker/Shutterstock (408921dp) ANGELA BASSETT 9TH ANNUAL SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS, LOS ANGELES, AMERICA - 09 MAR 2003

Angela looks like she's been blown sideways AND had pieces of her dress fly off in the bargain.

This is some unexpected under-the-sea imagery. It actually really works?

We had one look from her that I liked, one that was decidedly meh, and now this one that I most definitely do NOT enjoy. It's so... clunky

Look at the Good Doctor as a tiny little person.

Eva Longoria

That's fun and different for her. I'd wipe off the eye makeup, I think.

2005: Melissa Gilbert

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Peter Brooker/Shutterstock (511686af) Melissa Gilbert 11TH ANNUAL SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS, LOS ANGELES, AMERICA - 05 FEB 2005

Melissa used to be the president of SAG -- I love that both Half Pint and Andrea Zuckerman have held this job -- and this feels extravagantly like a reminder that she is at LEAST three-quarter pints now.
