Angela Bassett, Ryan Coogler
Angela won the Montecito Award for being "a person in the entertainment industry who has made a great contribution to film." (These descriptions are cut and pasted from the SBFF website.) Her head here looks MAGNIFICENT. The rest of her outfit is wholly average but just the fact that her face and hair look like that... it does so much.
Maltin Modern Master Award, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, California, USA - 11 Feb 2023
Jamie Lee got the Maltin Modern Master Award for "an individual who has enriched our culture through accomplishments in the motion picture industry." I am not sure how that's different than what Angela Bassett got. JLC looks very on-brand here, in a way that works for her, but which I also kinda wish she'd shake up for the Oscars.

Okay, I am NOT JOKING, Brendan gets the American Riviera Awards for... wait for it... "actors who have made a significant contribution to American cinema." These are all the same award, people! (It's not an actor/actress thing, either; all these awards have gone to women AND men.) I am happy there's something for everyone, but it's like trying to come up with different ways to describe ceiling fans. THEY ALL DO THE SAME THING.
Cate Blanchett
Cate got a trophy for Most Outstanding Performer, for being a person "whose role in a film has exceeded greatness." Well okay then! That seems pretty clear-cut. This off-kilter situation with the sexy leather boots is really rather good on her.
