The colors here are really wonderful and vibrant. Lupita is nothing if not boldly playful, which is a win even when things take a WAH-WAAAAAH turn.

And here is that turn. The top is actually not as cute as I want it to be, because I've never been big on pseudo underwire bodices, and the light pattern on one boob and the darker on the other makes it look like her left boob is winking at me or something. But then of course the waistline on the pants not only devours her abdomen with casual rudeness, but also cuts in on her in unfortunate places. I had bermuda shorts with that sort of paper bag hem in the 1980s and 90s, and EVEN THEN I was like, "I'm not sure these actually look as good on me as I want them to," but they were all I had. Was this all you had, Lupita? SURELY not. You are LUPITA.

And then, OF COURSE, they have massive cuffs. It's like she jammed her feet into two buckets. Or made pants with a built-in Romper Stomper.
And David Oyelowo's suit is SO GOOD, too.

Rosie Assoulin is all about volume, and I RARELY respond to her work, so when I dug up the outfit credit it made a lot of sense to me. I would've liked to have seen Lupita's as a skirt, just out of curiosity. I just think the pants are so profoundly unflattering. I hate it when trousers betray us.
