It's true that I would like this so much more if the opacity went all the way down, or if it cut off where that underskirt ends. But it's a lovely gown and Selena looks SO ladylike and graceful in it. Looking at her in this photo, I can't believe she and the Biebs are still dating. I know he's only like two years younger than she is, but visually it seems like an infinite abyss.

For the formal premiere, Selena went with a preponderance of fabric. That sucker is a cloth waterfall, as if the dress came with a matching bedspread.

For a dress with all that dazzle and detail, though, doesn't it somehow also look surprisingly inexpensive? I don't know if it's the fabric choice or the way the light catches it, but the whole thing feels more like one of those Frankly Fake replica gowns you can buy for Prom than an actual luxe designer piece. Still, on the whole, it's nice to see Selena easing into some stuff that's more adult, and taking chances without also taking us on a journey to Crotchville or Flesh City.
