Well, get out the maple syrup and soften your butter, everyone, because pancakes are on the menu today. It's hard to say whether she knew the top would provide such a thorough outline of her chest? PROBABLY? This whole mess backfired in every way. I think Lily is missing a sophistication in her overall styling, and I'd love to see her find some.

Well, I like her hair and makeup. And this would have been nice with a lining. It's just silly to me without one.

Julia Garner in Ferragamo

Once again I am celebrating the head-styling, and the necklace, my god, it's fantastic. But what a sad smock. I will give Lily James, for example, that her garment had some personality to it. This is so blah. I do not think it has confidence in itself. It could never believably play Fraulein Maria in The Sound of Music without LYING its way through that song.

I think we are seeing nipple covers, not nipples, but the outfit is no less sheer either way. This looks like ruched drapes in a bordello.

THE WAY I YELPED. Robert Wun has so many beautifully rendered outfits, with razor-precise pleating. There HAS to be a better one they could have picked. She looks like a depressing parade float.

When she stands this way and works it with the top, it's better? But it's also more obviously sheer. I hoped for more for her this year, but also perversely am thrilled because I enjoy the rush of the OMG WHAT moment.

Kate's technically qualifies here, even though it's only sheer from the mid-thigh down. It would look a lot nicer if it weren't, though. It looks like a bubble bath that's slowly losing its suds.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Bitsie Tulloch

And Bitsie's dress is NOT sheer, I don't think; that seems like very thick material meant to match her skin tone, and is a great example of how a dress does not ACTUALLY have to give it all up in order to have a sexy effect. I think she looks super. (They, by the way, are your current Superman and Lois Lane on The CW.)

Sheers Crept Back Into The Story at the Critics' Choice Awards
And yep, I'm gonna be a critic about it.
