[The 36th Academy Awards happened on this day in 1964](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36th%5FAcademy%5FAwards?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (a rather small venue, frankly), hosted by Jack Lemmon. (There was [an envelope mix-up at this Oscars,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36th%5FAcademy%5FAwards?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io#Sammy%5FDavis%5FJr.%5Fenvelope%5Ferror) too!) The red carpet wasn't photographed in those days the way it is now -- for better or worse -- but the pictures from this night are great and we've got some very intense Wiki Deep Dives ahead. Let's look!
