Katy Perry was the co-host this year, but you wouldn't know it -- she turned up looking miserable in scarlet tulle, whereas Rihanna bounced in with an aura of sentient fabric samples and won the night.

Programming note: I had already recently discussed [the Kardashians and Hadids](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/met-gala-rewind-i-couldnt-resist-rounding-up-the-kardashian-jenner-hadids-05-2020/), so I left them out here. This also was one of the first years that we paid much attention to the dudes at the Met Gala -- or maybe it was one of the first times we noticed them playing around with it. But as the pulls piled up, I realized that we'd conveniently grouped all the men together (we don't do that anymore so I'm making the most of it while I can), and can embed them here. SO I SHALL.

Thank you, Dudes. You have spared me a lot of typing this way.
