This is BOMBSHELL, which is not the direction she usually goes, and I love it. I do get distracted by the sequin/metallic gowns that look like they lost some patches on the way over; it feels like she was just in a footrace with a zombie or something. But the rest? Yes.

She did walk the red carpet, but not in front of anyone we pay for, so: Here she is inside, looking like a goddess.

Speaking of goddesses. Michael Kors has been doing some really great, effective, simple but sparkly work this awards season. What a perfect color on this woman.

Props to her for picking an unusual hue. I appreciate her bringing out the hair, but... do we think this dress got the makeup it needed?

Okay. Breathe. This is BETTER. It definitely eclipses her Globes gown. But the fact that one side of her v-neck is curved more than the other suggests that the fit was off when they glued it to her chest. So while it's an improvement, and I wish she'd worn it to th Globes... I don't know, I always perceived her taste as zippier than this.

This is ALSO way better than her Globes dress, but enough of a cousin that I am hoping very badly for a bold color palette at the Oscars.

She looks so pretty, and I LOVE that she went sleeveless and one-shouldered -- does she EVER really do that?

This is better than the Pradas we saw at the Globes (and the Miu Mius, too). Favoritism!

She's best known for being on The Middle, a show that's aired FOREVER that I know no one who watches, so bravo to all of them for achieving that job security. I think she looks divine, and kind of like the genetic cross between Sean Young and Vanessa Bayer, which... is neither here nor there. But I love it when someone who is less familiar knocks it out of the park in a slideshow with other A-listers. Kill it, girl.
