I mean, that right there is really tingling. I don't fault JT for wanting to pay tribute, but once the situation seemed morally murky given Prince's own words... just let the man SING and give your voice a break while he does it.

The costuming here felt so cumbersome that we actually assumed JT was stripping ALL of it off. (Kevin said, "I think he's dressed as all of The Village People at once.")

in Stella McCartney. YES. I KNOW. OMG.

It would seem Justin has been run over repeatedly by a Ford F-150 ad.

Is it just me, or was the DANCING also really kind of weak? JT used to be so reliable as a performer, but the choreography felt boring and half-hearted.

The staging also felt messy. Maybe someday he'll tell us all just how MUCH of the show they had to rip up once Holographic Prince was off the table. This did not feel special at all until they unfurled that sheet, and even then, straining to keep JT in frame with it meant that the TV coverage didn't do the Prince part justice (at least for me). I don't know. This overall felt like a really half-baked show. Team Janet.

Pink

She sang the anthem with the flu -- in fact, she had a lozenge in her mouth until RIGHT before she started singing -- and full marks to her for that. I don't love her pants, but what can you do?

Aly Raisman

This was from a DirecTV party the night before, at which I hope people came up to Aly all night and high-fived her and told her that she is awesome and brave.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens showed up dressed as Amelie.

Breeda Wool

And Breeda (S1 of UnREAL) came as Sandy from Grease at a square dance.

J.Lo

"MACAVITY'S NOT THERE! GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY! ELLICLES CAN AND JELLICLES WILL!

Dascha Polanco

That coat is confusing, but also possibly the most interesting -- in a good way -- thing that she's ever worn

Dak Prescott

These may have been styled, but it has that adorably he-picked-it-out-himself-and-hoped-it-was-right quality.

Cardi B

I like this. I also LOVED that, in response to some rumor that she is pregnant, she said, "I'm just getting fat. Let me fat in peace." I want LET ME FAT IN PEACE tattooed to my person someday

Issa Rae

That is a pretty damn fine wine cardigan right there.

Issa Rae

This outfit is... not great. But she apparently felt strongly enough about the shirt to wear it again later, which you will see in a later post. Will you like it better, or worse? For what did she ditch the satin pants? And how's THAT for a cliffhanger?!?

Hmm, how did that get in there?

For once, the actual best part was the sports.
