The bride wore Valentino, which looked wonderful on her -- no twee Gatsby-wannabe headpiece for HER -- and the groom could not stop nuzzling her, giving her little kisses, or looking like she took his breath away. It was quite sweet, and somewhat unusual for a formal royal affair. One rarely comes out of a royal wedding thinking, "Well, they totally got frisky in a coat closet before the reception, right?"
The bride did have a little trouble getting that one shoulder to stay up in place, but that's a tiny quibble. She had a joyful husband to wrangle. Sometimes dresses can't stand up to that.
Sophie: Don't they look THRILLED.
Sadface: Sigh.
Sophie: It's so wonderful to see a couple on their wedding day looking so GIDDY and IN LOVE.
Sadface: SIGH.
Sophie: Takes me back to how delighted I was when I got married.
Sadface: I SAID, 'SIGH.'
"I'm happy to be here. I'm happy to be here. I'm happy for them. I'm happy to be here."
"SHOW-OFFS."
"Oh, God, there he goes again."
"I'm not going to look. I'm just going to wear my brown -- the obvious color choice for wishing well to your royal compatriots, and also the theme of the UPS service I wish I had used to ship myself in a box away from Monaco -- and I am going to think about being HAPPY. I am happy. I am Clinique Happy. I am Happy GIlmore."
"Yeah, pucker up, Smoochy. Just make sure your passport is where you left it, and not locked in a safe in some royal henchman's hidden lair."
"Just stay calm, repeat 'I am happy to be here,' and think of the day when Hayden Panettiere plays you in a Lifetime movie called Princess Charlene: Just Happy To Be Here."
"God, he couldn't even get out of the church without French kissing her hand. Someone should tell him she's SWEDISH and so maybe French kissing isn't culturally SENSITIVE. DID YOU THINK OF THAT, ROMEO?!?"
"Wait. I just thought of a silver lining. ALBERT ISN'T HERE. Looks like my smile muscles DO still work after all, eh? I can sense a twitch in there somewhere."
