Maxime Grousset of France

Hot take: These world-class athletes sure are athletic.

Thomas Ceccon of Italy

However! Many of them also have great hair.

David Popovici of Romania

We got so many Winning Fists of Victory! (He just won the gold in the 200 m. freestyle here.)

Leon Marchand of France

Another classic? Victoriously punching the water. (He won, like....MANY MEDALS. This was the 200m breaststroke. The French crowd REALLY fell in love with him; it's extremely fun.)

Kaylee Mckeown of Australia

Related: The raised arm of victory! (She won gold in the 100m backstroke.)

Nicolo Martinenghi of Team Italy

The DOUBLE raised arms of victory!

Nicolo Martinenghi of Team Italy

In case you wanna see him without his swim cap! (He does have cool hair.)

Nicolo Martinenghi of Italy and Nic Fink of USA

Related: The, uh, emotional hug-head of victory?

Daniel Wiffen of Ireland

A fun switch from the Fists of Victory: A return to Call Me Maybe. (He won the gold for the 800m Freestyle and he was SO emotional in the medal ceremony. It was great!)

Giovanni Caserta, Filippo Megli, Alessandro Ragaini and Carlos D'Ambrosio of Italy

Behold Giovanni Caserta, Filippo Megli, Alessandro Ragaini and Carlos D'Ambrosio of Italy -- this was a team that swum the 4x200m Freestyle relay heat. I just could not resist a photo of one Italian swimmer blessing another.

Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske of Team United States

Look at them GO!! Torri Huske had SUCH a great Olympics, in particular.

Haiyang Qin of China and Nic Fink of Team USA

"Just standing here, thinking about our abs!!"

David Popovici of Team Romania

This photo makes him look like he's making a thrilling entrance on a fashion week runway, about to dramatically remove his first layer.

Melvin Imoudu of Germany

"I can't even LOOK at those cupping bruises! They're distressingly symmetrical!"

Rafael Miroslaw of Germany

He can swim....AND he does a killer imitation of a water feature.

Adam Peaty of Great Britain

I LOVE these photos where folks are basically horizontal, leaping into the pool.

Gretchen Walsh of USA

Also important: I think this was my favorite of the Americans' suits.

Wang Shun of Team China

Shirtless sportsmanship!

Caeleb Dressel of Team United States and Joshua Liendo of Team Canada

Shirtless sportsmanship, part two!

Hubert Kos of Hungary

Nothing says, "I just won a gold medal" like a joyous splash!

Wang Shun of Team China

The Chinese men also have great hair. Exhibit A....

Pan Zhanle of Team China

...exhibit B...

Jiayu Xu of China

...exhibit C. Someone get this man a hair brand ambassadorship!!

Leonardo Deplano of Italy

True confession: I just tried to do this stretch. I can do it but I'm like 99% less flexible. Perhaps one of the myriad reasons he's an Olympian and I am most definitely not.

Roman Mityukov of Switzerland

A little-discussed but important advantage in the pool? Dimples.

Leon Marchand of Team France

Also, a willingness to bust a move poolside.

Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden

Behold, a portrait of pure joy. (She's winning the 100m free here, but also won the 50m dash. At 30! Which everyone acted was like 79.)

Sarah Sjostrom of Team Sweden

Pure joy, part two.

David Popovici of Team Romania

Hot take: Swimmers are generally quite fit.

Gregorio Paltrinieri of Team Italy

Italy had a great Olympics and to that I say bravo.

Bobby Finke of Team United States

I just watched him win, and set a world record in, the 1500. People are fast! (I also wonder how many of these swimmers have basically this exact tattoo.)

Noe Ponti of Team Switzerland

I feel like we got a wider array of medalists this Olympics than in previous ones, and it's been fun and also handsome.

Maxime Grousset of Team France and Kyle Chalmers of Team Australia

Can't forget the all-important high five/handshake combo!

Xu Jiayu of Team China

Or the thumbs up!

Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Oh gosh, how did this photo of me get in here?!

Gregorio Paltrinieri of Ital

I enjoy that this photo makes them look like they're also adept in the practice of interpretive dance.

Summer McIntosh of Team Canada

She had a terrific Olympics and apparently in addition to being great in the pool, she's highly skilled at the hair product commercial-worthy hair flip!

Caspar Corbeau of the Netherlands

You can just hear the "YEAH!"

Mollie O'Callaghan and Ariarne Titmus of Team Australia

Hugs!!

Ryan Murphy of Team United States

Waves!

Nicolò Martinenghi of Italy

Prayers!

Team Great Britain

Cheers!

Mona McSharry of Ireland and Tatjana Smith of South Africa

Laughs!

Maxime Grousset of Team France and Kyle Chalmers of Team Australia

A seemingly-choreographed "how YOU doin'" goggle waggle.

Benjamin Proud of Team Great Britain and Florent Manaudou of Team France

Hugging AND pointing!

Ryan Murphy, Nic Fink, Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske of Team United States

MASSIVE CELEBRATING!

Kristof Milak of Team Hungary

We probably do need to talk about how this swimsuit was like, "what if it gave the vibe of SKIMPY UNDERPANTS???" (He worked! He won a gold medal here.)

EXACTLY.

Katie Ledecky of Team United States and Ariarne Titmus of Team Australia

I know they're each other's greatest rival in the pool, but it's so obvious that these two women like and respect each other.

Katie Ledecky of Team United States

This was after she demolished the 1500m Freestyle. WELL EARNED VICTORY SPLASH.

Katie Ledecky and Paige Madden of Team United States

It was exciting to see Paige Madden sneak into the bronze medal position in the 800...

Katie Ledecky and Paige Madden of Team United States

She was SO EMOTIONAL. I also cried!

Nic Fink and Ryan Murphy of Team United States

CELEBRATORY THUMB WRESTLE!

Josh Liendo of Team Canada

I love that this is just like...a whole line-up of swim caps and abs.

Gold Medalist Kaylee McKeown of Team Australia (C), Silver Medalist Regan Smith of Team United States (L) and Bronze Medalist Kylie Masse of Team Canada

Selfies!

Caeleb Dressel of Team United States

Joyous pointing!

Cameron McEvoy of Team Australia and Benjamin Proud of Team Great Britain

We're back to hugs! Someone in the chat pointed out that the 50 freestyle -- which they're celebrating taking gold and silver in -- is SO fast that water doesn't even have time to get under anyone's swim cap.

Hubert Kos of Hungary

This feels like a promo shot from a sexy soap opera about swimming romances.

Kyle Chalmers of Team Australia

If you squint, the shape of his chest tattoo recalls a Fair Isle sweater. I wish someone WOULD tattoo a Fair Isle sweater on themselves.

Noe Ponti of Switzerland

You recall what I said about dimples!

Zac Stubblety-Cook of Team Australia

Additionally: The name "Stubblety-Cook" is delightful.

Leon Marchand of Team France

These underwater photos are so cool. This one is such a good illustration of how long he stayed under during a turn; he's so deep.

Regan Smith of Team United States

She just looks like a super hero here.

Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri and France's Damien Joly

I enjoy that they're wearing matching swimsuits, even if they swim for different countries.

Apostolos Christou of Greece

Before...

Apostolos Christou of Greece

...and after. (He won silver in the 200m backstroke. He's so cute!)

Lani Pallister of Australia, Jamie Perkins of Australia, Brianna Throssell of Australia, Jack Shaya of Australia

BIG HUG! The Aussie women had a fantastic Olympics. They're such a strong team!

Anastasiia Kirpichnikova of Team France

Look at how excited she is to take silver to Katie Ledecky in the 1500m!! And you would be. I feel like Beating Everyone Else in that race feels like getting a gold. It's like a whole other race.

Kate Douglass and Tatjana Smith

Everyone here is just giving good vibes. (Tatjana Smith is the swimming artist formerly knowns and Tatjana Schoenmaker.)

Team USA 's Gretchen Walsh, Lily Smith, Regan Smith and Torri Huske

I love this photo so much. This is girlhood, as they say!

Caspar Corbeau of the Netherlands

More victory fists!

Florent Manaudou of Team France

And thumbs up! I'm pleased to note that I remembered Florent from previous years of writing this feature and when he showed up, I thought, "omg that hot French swimmer hasn't retired!"

Florent Manaudou of Team France

In fact, he's THRIVING. He won a bronze in the relay AND the 50. He's only 33 but in Olympic years he's like 56. He looks...great.

Florent Manaudou of Team France

He's in a Speedo because these are training session photos but I wasn't gonna keep this one from you! It's like, "LOOK AT THIS, PLEASE FOCUS YOUR CAMERA HERE. I work really hard for this!"

Benjamin Proud of Team Great Britain and Florent Manaudou of Team France

Get a man who looks at you the way Benjamin Proud looks at Florent Manaudou. And vice versa.

Florent Manaudou of Team France

HEART HANDS TO EVERYONE.

Three Cheers for the Swimmers of the 2024 Paris Olympics

(And their muscles. Respectfully.)
