Sydney has been the dreaded Main Character of the Internet for a while now, from the white-supremacist-flavored American Eagle ad t[o her real lack of interest in acknowledging any of the issues inherent in said American Eagle ad](https://www.gq.com/story/sydney-sweeney-gq-cover-story-interview-men-of-the-year-2025?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), to the epic poor performance of *Christy*, the awards bait she's currently promoting in which she plays a boxer and for which [she wants you to know her butt became so huge that her pants ballooned all the way up to a size 27](https://variety.com/2025/film/news/sydney-sweeney-christy-martin-biopic-gained-30-pounds-training-1236423553/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). None of that has gone over tremendously well, as you might imagine. This might account for arriving to Deadline Contenders trying to look young and innocent, like a high-schooler showing up to her biology final. Well, okay, as innocent as a high-schooler who is about to cheat on her biology final because her parents will take away her horse if she fails. Well, okay, maybe as innocent as a high-schooler who convinced the school's biggest, nerdiest tech expert that she had the hots for him so that he'd steal the final, *and* change her P.E. grade, so that her parents don't take away her horse, by which she also means her Porsche.
