Taraji is wearing an Armani top that was originally part of a Blanche Devereaux type matching-slacks situation. So if you're thinking, "Wow, what a fancy blouse," you are correct. It's a shame Empire went so far off the rails, because Taraji was born for a nighttime soap. I really wish we could re-enter the era of elaborate ones. Revenge also turned terrible, but wouldn't she be GREAT if they rebooted that with her in the Madeleine Stowe role?

Taraji opened the show in this cape, then shrugged it off to do a dance montage in what could charitably be described as a figure skating costume inspired by Seinfeld's puffy shirt...

... which THEN came off to reveal the catsuit. I bless anyone with the confidence to shake it for the camera in a catsuit, but I wish it didn't look like such cheap hosiery.

Eventually she stopped the performance to pretend that she had to scold the dancers for getting too bum-forward, or... something? It was good cardio for her I guess but not all that exciting to watch, and as you can tell, I only had half an eye on it.

This looked fabulous on her.

So, of course, she immediately changed into something super naked again. This looks freakily like she had her nipples removed.

That's micro, but she looks super cute in this, and mischievous, like a clueless-celeb character in a Hallmark movie who thinks she's going incognito just because her hat is huge.

They put Dolly and Stevie Nicks in the second row?!? I THINK NOT.

I love this color on her, but the top is mashing the mammaries.

This is... nearly perfect?

This dress, made of ribbons, is ALSO great on her. Taraji's team (her stylist is Jason Bolden) did a really good job varying the looks while also making sure there's something eye-catching or memorable about every single one of them -- be it the color, the unusual construction, or, yes, the erasure of nipples.

This one looks a hair tight, but the sleeves are triumphant tributes to Jiffy Pop.
