Mickey Guyton

Again, the trend is to be both bold and monochrome -- I don't know if this is when it started, but it FEELS like the preponderance of it came after Michelle Obama at Biden's inauguration -- and Mickey does it really well. This is a beautiful, beautiful purple, and as wacky as I think it is to wrap a regular old belt over your coat, she's pulling it off and that's partly because it seems VERY unlikely she'll want to remove said coat on this cold day.

And Kelly looks extremely snuggly in this silky green thing, which I assume she and her team lovingly brushed this morning.

She isn't ALL matchy but she did keep it thematic. I don't know how well I think these colors complement each other, but I assume draping herself in velvet kept her extra warm.

Busy Philipps

Busy ALSO had on a catsuit. I can't decide if she came in character or not (there was a Girls5Eva float).

It is sort of hard to TELL if they're all in character or not. I like Sara's autumnal ensemble and then Renee's coming in over there all festive and plaid and great. And then Paula is giving me "it's January and I'm skiing and I don't care what I'm wearing as long as I'm not cold."

Jimmie Allen

That's a very handsome coat indeed.

As is this one! He's on the Louisiana float, and the mustard suit with the overcoat works so, so well.

I'm guessing he's on the St Louis float? He looks warm.

All of which makes it even more jarring when you see the ladies marching in their hotpants. We REALLY cannot get these women some spangly overcoats, at least? It's not like the University of Alabama is hurting for cash.

"Wait should I be throwing these? Are they party favors? Is there a cacao shortage?"

Blue's Clues got a float, with our old pal Steve leading the way in the O.G. colors, thinking perhaps that he's glad he got his start on a show that prioritized winterwear (well, rugby shirts, but still, it's a short walk from those to matching scarves).

And here are Blue's other two dudes, past and present. Please applaud the attention to detail that led to their shoes AND gloves matching their color schemes. They all look great; I'd totally buy that coat and scarf ensemble. Well done, Blue's Crew.

"Do people know who I am, or do they just think I'm a very nice young baker guy?"

"Do I even need to stand up? You guys look like you've got this, and it's warmer down here."

Terrifying flying clown.

Imagine looking idly out your window as you mash your potatoes, and seeing THAT. If the aliens ever do come, this is when they should try it. We probably won't even notice.

Smokey the Bear

I love this photo, because it looks like Smokey defied his handlers' orders so that he could go high-five one of his bros.

I know Papa is the most experienced smurf, but that doesn't always equate to modeling talent. I'm just not getting any real connection to the camera here.

This looks like he leapt from a great height and intends to crowd surf.

I have to hand it to him: He always promised he wouldn't change and get Botox or anything after he got famous, and he truly didn't.

As Usual, the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade Was Mostly About Coats
