Also, to catch you up on the goss: At this point in 1996, Emma and Kenneth Branagh were divorced (due to him cheating on her with Helena Bonham Carter), and she had become very depresssed, but she started dating Hot Hot Greg Wise during this film and they are still married!

ENTER HUGH GRANT, who is at his befuddled adorable best in this movie. (I say that as a person who also loves Rakish, Bad Hugh Grant.) Elizabeth Hurley looks so pretty and very very subdued. (In case you were wondering, she wore The Safety Pin Dress to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, which we should probably also cover. This is like the polar opposite of that. Also, you know a dress really made a splash when it has its own Wikipedia page.)
