Kate Beckinsale at the Los Angeles premiere, in Donna Karan

This dress is quite beautiful and fits her perfectly. The HOOTERS sign behind her sort of deflates the moment. (This premiere was at the Chinese Theatre, which is exactly where it should have been, but that Hooters sort of deflated the Old Hollywood Glam.)

Gwen Stefani at the LA premiere in Vivienne Westwood

Gwen, wisely, got her shot in front of the movie poster (about which, had I been covering this, I surely would have made a hacky crack about whether this film was about aviator....sunglasses?!!!? See, got it in there! Just 17 years later.) ANYWAY, this dress is iconic -- I literally remembered it.

Gavin and Gwen

In case you need to orient yourself in space and time, they had been married two years by this point.

Debi Mazar and Gwen Stefani

Debi is doing a real Grey Gardens thing here and I promise you that is not actually a ding.

Demi Mazar at the LA premiere

I'd wager this fur is vintage, and this whole look is VERY on theme.

Leonardo DiCaprio at the LA premiere

Just to let you know: Leo is going to look totally reasonable and boring throughout this press tour, which I suspect is his plan for his red carpet moments.

David Schwimmer at the LA premiere

"Hey guys!!! Definitely did NOT think I was gonna have to walk the press line for this! Just trying to get in and get my popcorn before this starts! Okay, BYE!"

Jacqueline Bisset and Emin Boztepe at the LA premiere

Jacqueline Bisset looks as agelessly gorgeous as ever; her companion here, Emin Boztepe, is an actor and (per the internet) "a American-German-Turkish martial artist." They dated 1994–2005, AND 2007–2008. Maybe they're due for another round!

Jesse Bradford at the LA premiere

Hey there, Swimfan!

Ben McKenzie at the LA premiere

Meanwhile, Benjamin McKenzie -- who was definitely very famous here; The O.C. premiered two years earlier -- was doing something regrettable to his bangs.

Lela Rochon at the LA premiere

I feel like everyone she spoke to in this coat had to really try hard not to stroke her arm. It looks so fuzzy!

Josie Maran at the LA premiere

Even for 2004, this hat with this dress for an evening premiere was slightly ridiculous. (Although separately, I've got no beef with either of them.)

Maria Menounos at the LA premiere

Was "Hats Welcome!!!" written on the invite?

John C. Reilly and Adam Scott at the LA premiere

OMG WAS IT?!?!?!?!!?

Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton at the LA premiere

This is SO 2004, I can barely take it. Paris ABSOLUTELY told a reporter at this event that Howard Hughes was hott.

Rufus and Martha Wainwright at the LA premiere

Look, more that one person wore fishnets to this event. (We also wore fishnets more in 2004 than we do now. I had some.)

Kelli Garner at the LA premiere

Sure! This works! (I mean, it's a little underbaked, styling-wise, but she's not going to look at this and despair.)

Cate Blanchett at the New York premiere

On the other hand, this is OVERBAKED. (She didn't go to the LA premiere, but made up for it by doing nearly all the rest of the press and obviously later did end up winning the Oscar.) I hate basically everything about this than the color.

Kate Beckinsale at the New York premiere

This is pretty dishy. She played Ava Gardner in the movie, which is a HIGH Dish Bar, after all.

Leonardo DiCaprio at the New York premiere

Boring. Reasonable. Non-memorable. Intentionally!

Alan Alda at the New York premiere

Speaking of a handsome and reasonable man!

Connie Nielsen at the New York premiere

This is actually very well-done, I think; this dress was THE SHIT in 2004 and the velvet shoes are so cute.

Adam Scott at the New York premiere

It was literally this moment at which I realize Adam Scott is IN this movie and wasn't just hanging out at the LA premiere. I suspect he regrets this period in his hair journey.

Josie Maran at the New York premiere

And this is where I realized that she TOO is in this film. (She plays, as best I can tell, a hot cigarette girl, and I bet it was fun.) The tortoiseshell pattern of this dress is very cool.

Martha Wainright, Rufus Wainright at the New York premiere

How many scarves do you think this family owns in total?

Nipsey Russell at the New York premiere

Nipsey has something to say!

Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton, London premiere

I've got a lot of notes about Cate's wardrobe for this press tour -- namely that I don't like it at all. (Her husband Andrew Upton looks entertainingly like her bodyguard here.)

Kate Beckinsale, London premiere

This is pretty dreamy. And also cold -- it was December.

Leonardo DiCaprio at the London premiere

Zzzzzzzz.

Josh Jackson at the London premiere

WELL HELLO FANCY MEETING YOU HERE.

This photo is hilarious to me: Fergie is proud she made this happen, Eugenie is FLOATING and already knows where she's hanging this photo on her wall, Leo is really annoyed he has to do this, and Beatrice has been cut out of frame.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Cate Blanchett at the Rome premiere

This coat is pretty dreamy. On Cate. (Leo's is serviceable and also probably $2500.)

Cate Blanchett in Rome

Oh, Cate. I love you. But no.

We Should Look at the 2004 Premiere(s) of The Aviator

It's very A list, and also some of it is...slightly hideous.
