Yes, Thakoon designed this, but it was for The Gap. It was auctioned for charity, I believe, after this. The Met is never going to seem accessible, so store brands getting involved seems sort of silly to me, but at least it was auctioned for charity afterward. HOWEVER the peek of bustier is not that hot. It looks like she has a St. George's Cross on her boob.

She looks beautiful in this. It's a fabulous color.

Chloe's black hooves match the peek of bra and basically nothing else. If you think the bra flash is boning things from the front...

... then get a load of this. It TOTALLY ruins the back.

I love Coco, but the part of the dress that's on her body looks like she just washed up from being lost at sea. And the train looks like a Pinocchio nose -- every lie she tells about where she was while she was gone causes it to grow and grow and grow. I think, essentially, this is an early version of dresses that worked much better later.

As is this, frankly. There is stuff here that is lovely, but which he did better later.

This should fit her boobs better. And pinning two old toupees to her shoulder is just mean.

ANOTHER Gap girl. She looks like a very glamorous madam.

This is sort of fun. For a long time I never thought of Emmy as someone with a lot of red-carpet personality, but that necklace says otherwise.

This was nice work from Vera. She's had a dodgy design decade since, to say the least.

This is one of Marchesa's sillier impulses.

And THIS is arguably the dumpiest thing Tina Fey has ever worn. The fit is a nightmare, the zipper in the front is an eyesore... it's like she's Violet Beauregard, spending her entire life afraid she will spontaneously inflate again, and dressing to make room.

ANOTHER Madam outfit. Maybe a lot of people decided they were America's first female small-business owners.

This is achingly perfect, and her wrist cuff seals it.

She got Jude Law during some of his great hair years. This was not her best makeup night.

Oprah looks stellar in this.

This feels more like the Dangerous Liaisons theme. Well, a cross between that and the '60s.

This dress is fine! She looks super in it.

I admit, I am fixating a bit more on what I can see of her shoes.

This is not the best of Karlie. The color is super, but... maybe it's the eye makeup.

This is all sort of a hodge podge but she's Thandie Newton, so it works

This is a total scrolldown -- like three bridal ideas got mashed together.

Look! Matching oven mitts!

This poofy skirt either needed to be at her waist, or MORE dropped, right?

We just revisited this in her Fugtrospective. It was the first light-up dress, years before Manus x Machina.

They should just go for a bridal theme one year. Boring but pretty much what people aim for anyway.

She looks good in this homage to the circulatory system.

Very Old Hollywood. (And good PR for The Gap.)

This looks like Kate Hudson's How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days dress got melted in the microwave.

SJP was hired earlier in 2010 to be the president and Chief Creative Officer of Halston Heritage. She quietly ended the association not long after, no announcement was made formally until Vogue broke it via a cover story in mid-2011, and it's been scrubbed from her Wikipedia page. Intrigue! It sounds like it was a bad relationship, but she can at least rest assured that it looked good on her here.

Is a belt REALLY just a waist-bracelet?

This was gorgeous. I think Fug Nation voted her best-dressed this year.

Marchesa, much like me at times, REALLY needed an editor.

But THIS is a good one. From this angle the train looks a bit like it's just plonked there...

... but as she went up the stairs, it gave her the photo she likely wanted.

This is lovely, don't get me wrong, but also slightly dowdy for Marion.

Hard to be mad at this. She MIGHT want for jewels?

It is not a surprise to me that LAMB no longer exists.

Kate looks nice. All three of them have ridiculously good legs. And Liv's dress has a sheer backing that goes all the way down to her feet, like a sanitary liner.

This dress says, "I hate designing for the Met Gala and I am OUT OF IDEAS ugh I'm so CRABBY."

Karl, Karl, Karl. Did your lunch sit poorly on this day?

Gisele is wearing a custom Alexander Wang gym mat that he decided not to finish weaving.

"You should have seen it BEFORE the Rogaine."

Justin's response to the whole wardrobe malfunction was so underwhelming and ME ME ME -- he also seemed so willing to let her pay the piper alone for as long as possible -- that I hope Janet spent all night tearing up his heart with her eyes.

This is so heavy, and exhausting-looking.

Well, I don't think Lenny was there, but Zoe was. This is pretty underwhelming, but the confidence of a white cotton tank top with tuxedo pants does feel like it has its place on this night.

To me this outfit is objectively bad, but she looks great in it.

"Leave me. I'm hatching."

I'm into the art-deco aspects of this. Is that black string holding the top together, or... because it's not a choker.

Little Wicker Chair on the Prairie.

Pretty, snoozy. Pretty snoozy. (At a premiere, sure. I do also have to remind myself she was much younger then.)

Diane is in Calvin Klein, and it's tremendous on her.

Rodarte REALLY toned itself down here for its Gap outfit -- I assume ALL of these were auctioned? -- but it does also feel like she's on her way to two-step at her own wedding.

Too much slit, too much STUFF.

I cannot get past her crispy-fried convertible hair.

Kristen is wearing backsplash from the Home Depot collection.

This is so cute. How far LV fell.

I guess the extra volume is in case her knees swell up?

This is a festival of yeesh.

I love this. She's like the most gorgeous box of chocolates.

"Crocheting is easy. You don't even have to finish!"

Leighton ran late this year, because I guess she was on a movie set. Country Strong came out in January 2011. WHAT IF SHE WAS LATE BECAUSE OF BULL TRUE.

She clearly went for a Studio 54 vibe.

This has a Discount Costuming air to it. The beige gloves with it make no sense.

I hope she took that back home, cut off the top, and kept the skirt for all time.

This is custom, and it's better than what Burberry gave to its young face Emma Watson.

Great gown, but she looks like she's in witness protection.

The BRACELETS with this. Thank you, Brooke, for giving us this ending.
