THIS look, I really do remember. (Not only because she literally could not walk in it.)

At the time, I said this dress would make an amazing staircase runner in my Hollywood Regency mansion and I do stand by this.

I've been alerted -- by the me of the 2011, who really needs to be ringing a lot of other bells -- that this is actually possibly PANTS.

This is SO goodl

This is AWFUL.

As I noted yesterday, this is also awful. Bad night for Stella.

This is actually McQueen. It's a LOT to carry off, but with the benefit of time, I'm kind of into how a LOT it is.

This is SO good.

This color is snoozy, but she looks great in this. (And there's Carolina Herrera behind her. You know you're recognizable when people can tell who you are from the back of your head.)

We thought this was a little goofy at the time, but it's aged really well on her -- the color is amazing.

This was a highlight for her. In retrospect, the necklace -- which is amazing -- sort of fights the neckline, but overall, this is grand.

Diane's head looks SO good here.

She looks like Louis Vuitton paid her to wear this. (I also assumed it was Herve Leger, which isn't great for LV -- although Leger was HOT in 2011.)

Be patient, and Ashley will bring your mead right out!

This is pretty fantastic, though.

Hard to argue with this...whole situation.

Am I crazy or does she look just like Dame Judi Dench here?

VERY well done.

This is FANTASTIC.

ALT's sideeye speaks for us all.

This is beautiful. What happened to her? (I mean, I am sure she's still beautiful; I more meant, where did she GO?)

I MEAN TRULY.

I promise you even she does not remember this dress.

I didn't like this at the time -- it felt too much like wood paneling to me? -- but in retrospect, I think I was too harsh.

Even 9 years later, the ruffle placement here is perplexing.

I also didn't love this until I saw the back, but I kinda retract all my complaints. If someone wore this now, I would love it. (I also suspect it was better in person.)

The back IS great.

THAT NECKLACE!!! (And the shoes!)

This color is so good on her, but the dress is sort of unmemorable. Like, great for a normal party, but maybe a LEETLE boring for the Met?

DISHY.

Remember Isabel Lucas?!

This photo NEVER fails to make me laigh.

I'm literally reprinting what I wrote about this at the time:
You know how everyone has that one cousin who got married in the mid 80s, and all your relatives are all, “Oh, DENISE. Denise’s wedding was FANTASTIC. Denise had the BEST taste. She was SO up-to-date! I was always so JEALOUS of how TRENDY she was!” And then when you finally got over to Cousin Denise’s house and you finally saw her wedding pictures, and OMG HER HAIR WAS HUGELY FLAMMABLE and she was wearing A CROWN OF LACE and her dress’s lace choker ATTACHED TO HER SLEEVES and you were like, “Mom, she looks so…. 80s,” and then your mom was all, “huh? Oh, everybody looked like that back then” and then you are just boggled as a person.
MEET COUSIN DENISE.

This has a weirdly Bai Ling vibe?

This is pretty, but I am confused by her Arm Accessories?

That's leather on the sides of this dress, not sheer mesh.

I GET this, but I feel like it washes her out a little bit?

This may be divisive, but I think this has aged really very well.

YES, it looks like she's wearing Dolphin shorts under that. (The black and white dress behind Alexa is AMAZING though.)

Fun fact: That jacket was actually a tail coat.

This is pretty fab.

BOTH of them look great.

This is fabulously accessorized.

Honestly, this could be a cardboard cut-out of Karl, for all we know.

On theme? Not really. But she does look super in it.

I assume Carolyn is wearing Tom Ford, as she's standing next to Tom Ford, and I don't think you risk people thinking you made this unless you did.

This is very over the top but also, in retrospect, sort of fantastically so?

Ditto.

Arguably boring but also she looks SUPERB.

I wish this were a different color.

Demi Moore walked so that Moira Rose could FLY. Also, yes, that's a fascinator.

ALSO a fascinator. I feel like we just learned that both Demi and Serena watched Kate and Wills get married with great interest.

Beautiful, but potentially needs jewelry.

This was a very GOLDEN Met Gala.

I enjoy this sleeve.

Gisele looks so doubtful of Kiki here.

Peak GOOP.

I ABSOLUTELY forgot this and it's kind of good.

I get where she was going with this. Did it get there? (That clutch is iconic, though. I bought Heather a knock-off of it on Etsy around this time.)

Welcome to the Jessica portion of this slideshow. We're going alphabetically, starting with Alba...

....moving to Chastain, who looks like a sexy governess...

...and closing with Stam.

We liked this a lot at the time, but now I might be neutral?

This is dreamy.

I hope she and Jessica Alba posed for pics together.

Was McQueen notably a fan of lamé? (I AM, personally.)

This is definitely OTT, but very on target for the event in question.

YES, Madonna looks fantastic.

So does Maggie G, in Stella (who at least didn't bungle this one). I wonder if this was a very PRETTY Met Gala, if not a very MEMORABLE one.

This is also really good. Whatever happened to her?

This is fun on her.

Those shoes are very McQueen. (The Met sold a small version of similar ones in their store during this exhibit and a friend brought me one! I still have it!)

She's done this better other times.

SHE TOO has done better.

Saoirse is only 17 here. This is VERY cool.

Given how great she looked the year she came WITH McQueen, I sort of expected this to be bigger?

Maybe not quite THIS big.
