## Lady Gaga

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-2-1517205207.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337195cq) Lady Gaga performs onstage at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Gaga sounded, as she always does, good and clear and true, even if she looked like she'd woken up in one of Elizabeth I's nightgowns.

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309n) Lady Gaga performs with Mark Ronson at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

She performed at a piano draped in giant angel wings, and eventually got up and finished singing "Million Reasons" in front of them, slowly bending down backward so she was lying upon them as if wearing them herself. It made my back hurt, if we're being honest. Congrats on being so bendy, Gaga. (The dude with her is Mark Ronson, by the way. I am not sure what he did to help, except I guess play guitar after she left her piano. She did not need him.)

## Kendrick Lamar

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-5-1517205237.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337195do) Kendrick Lamar performs onstage at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Kendrick won for DAMN, and deservedly so. "Humble" is so catchy. I can't listen to it without bobbing my head in a hopelessly uncool way. His performance was more complicated performance art that didn't photograph very well, but it involved interludes from Dave Chappelle and Bono, and dancers dressed as soldiers, and then the image of the red hooded dudes being picked off by gunfire one by one... it was complicated, and very different, in a way that I appreciated and was pleased they aired in the early Grammys slot rather than the last one.

## with Rihanna in Alexandre Vauthier

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-3-1517205217.jpg)

Rihanna, left, and Kendrick Lamar accept the award for best rap/sung performance for "Loyalty." at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Rihanna sings on one of Kendrick's songs, so he had her come up and speak when they won. She looked better in this in motion than in stills, but it's still pretty damn good. She's like a gorgeous spy who doesn't care if she gets noticed because she's *that* sly and evasive. Also: HER HAIR. I love it on her.

## in Adam Selman

She switched to this to perform with DJ Khaled, and it's a fantastic color on her, even if the song is super boring and the staging was sloppy and confusing. (It's that WILD WILD WILD WILD WILD song, which I always hear as WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY, which is how I feel about it.)

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-22-1517205412.jpg)

Apparently I accidentally downloaded two of her in this, so we can all drink in a bit more how super she looked.

## Pink

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-10-1517205289.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309cc) Pink, Jenese Portee. Jenese Portee signs as Pink performs "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Pink performed "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" with a sign language interpreter, which was really lovely. Ryan Seacrest asked her what the heck one does to follow performing on the side of a skyscraper, and I actually think hitting the reset button like this was very smart. It was simple, her voice and her message and her ASL cohort were the stars, and it relieves some of the pressure for her to top herself.

## Miley in Zac Posen

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-17-1517205359.jpg)

This is STUNNING. I don't think Miley has ever looked better in anything, in her entire career. I audibly gasped when she came out in this.

## with Elton John

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-15-1517205340.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309ez) Elton John, Miley Cyrus. Elton John, left, and Miley Cyrus appear after a performance of "Tiny Dancer" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

She and Elton sang "Tiny Dancer" and it was excellent. I love his flashy coat, as always. Also, think back to the days of "Party in the USA" and to when she's strain through "The Climb" live, and imagine learning then that in 2018 Miley would have among the most reliably potent pipes in the business. You would not have believed it. She's put in a lot of work.

## India.Arie

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-1-1517205196.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337176k) India.Arie performs "I Am Light" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Well. I wish we'd seen THIS on TV. Unless I blacked out and missed a portion of the show, this must have been during the pre-broadcast Grammys. Sigh.

## Little Big Town

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-4-1517205227.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337195cz) Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook, Kimberly Schlapman. Karen Fairchild, from left, Jimi Westbrook and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town performs "Better Man" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

These guys always look a bit cheesy, and oops, I accidentally picked a photo that cuts out the one who looks like Richard Branson. Anyway: They SOUNDED great, and once you know their song was written by Taylor Swift, its catchiness makes a lot of sense. Jess and I agree that we kind of miss the Taylor who writes twangy toe-tappers about her relationships.

## Patti LuPone

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-6-1517205248.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337195hk) Patti LuPone performs "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" during a tribute to Leonard Bernstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

She performed "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" in honor of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and OF COURSE she went into full Acting mode. (I'm so sorry; I am on an island of one in not liking Patti LuPone's voice. But she did sing the hell out of it, and in the room it was probably very cool even to cranks like me.)

## Ben Platt

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-16-1517205350.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309ff) Ben Platt, right, performs "Somewhere" during a tribute to Leonard Bernstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Leonard Bernstein was honored right before that -- the Grammys were in NYC, so of course they saluted Broadway -- by Ben Platt, who won for the *Dear Evan Hansen* cast album and did a beautiful rendition of "Somewhere" from *West Side Story*. It was quite stunning.

## Sam Smith

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-8-1517205268.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309ag) Sam Smith at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Someone on Twitter said he gets stage fright, which might explain why his performances never quite travel up his face to his eyes. (And possibly why he turned his back right before hitting his high notes.) I do not know why he's wearing a lab coat, though.

## Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-9-1517205278.jpg)

I have had "Despacito" in my head all night, thanks to these two. Sigh.

## Cardi B and Bruno Mars

Bruno and I both seem to be amused by Cardi B's ensemble.

## Shaggy and Sting

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-12-1517205311.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309de) Shaggy, Sting. Shaggy, left, and Sting perform "Englishman In New York" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Last night was all but sponsored by Shaggy and Sting. First, they went to talk to Seacrest who said -- without sarcasm as far as I could tell -- that this was the legendary pairing the world has long awaited. Then they did a skit with James Corden on the subway, and finally, they sang together. Again: Go back in time and tell yourself that Mr. Boombastic and "Fields of Gold" would be teaming up. It really entertains me, honestly. Also: nice Breton stripe, Sting.

## DJ Khaled

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-13-1517205320.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309dh) DJ Khaled performs "Wild Thoughts" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

He seemed to imply on the red carpet that he'd be changing for his performance, but does not seem to have done? Whatever, DJ Khaled. Life your life. I've heard all you do is win, win, win, no matter what, so.

## Sza in Monse

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-18-1517205371.jpg)

You probably could have guessed this was Monse without me IDing it up there. Shredded sports jerseys are a tell.

## Shemar Moore and Eve

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-19-1517205380.jpg)

Eve changed out of her Naeem Khan sparkles into this one, and looked SO GOOD. I'm sad this photo isn't better, because she really killed it. Come back, Eve! Do something with Pink.

## Bruno Mars

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-20-1517205392.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309gd) Bruno Mars accepts the award for record of the year for "24K Magic" at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

I can feel the wheels turning in Jess's head and hope that this yields a post called "Fug Nation Loves: Sparkly Bomber Jackets."

## Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/9336009bg-1517205801.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by MJ Photos/REX/Shutterstock (9336009bg) Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys 60th Annual Grammy Awards, Press Room, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Alicia looks kind of like she made sleeves and pants to go witih her favorite bathing suit, but she seems very happy. The translation of Swizz'sBenito Juarez quote is, "Among individuals, as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace."

## Maren Morris in Cavanagh Baker, with T.J. Osborne, John Osborne, and Eric Church

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-14-1517205330.jpg)

The Brothers Osborne, from left, Maren Morris and Eric Church perform at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

Maren looked very nice in this Nashville designer. She and the dudes sang "Tears in Heaven" during a tribute to the Vegas shooting victims, and I have to say... it sounded TERRIBLE. She was the best part of it, but it wasn't good. I also wish they'd chosen any one of a jillion emotional country songs to pay tribute to the victims who were at a country music festival, rather than picking a Clapton song that is extremely hard to cover because it's so inseparable from HIS grief. But mostly I wish they'd done it justice.

## Alessia Cara

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-24-1517205432.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337309hh) Alessia Cara performs "1-800-273-8255" during an In Memoriam tribute as the suicide hotline prevention number appears on screenat the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

She performed "1-800-273-8255" with Logic (I gather that's the suicide hotline prevention number). So I will present her pants without comment.

## Kesha et al

![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/01/grammy-awards-2018-telecast-gfy-23-1517205422.jpg)

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9337323t) Bebe Rexha, Cyndi Lauper, Kesha, Camila Cabello, Andra Day, Julia Micaels. Kesha, center, performs "Praying" as, from left, Bebe Rexha, Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Andra Day and Julia Michaels provide back up vocals at the 60th annual Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York APTOPIX 60th Annual Grammy Awards - Show, New York, USA - 28 Jan 2018

And this. Oh, this. Kesha has always sounded a little raw live, but it works for her, and this was gut-wrenching. "Praying" gets me even just through the car radio, but to see her and hear her sing it... I got choked up, and when all those women came out and sang backup for her, as if to say they'll HAVE her back, it was very moving. Her story is such a sad one, and she -- like many of the USA Gymnasts, in fact -- was swimming upstream with her allegations for a long time, until (so it feels) the Harvey Weinstein story opened some eyes and unlocked some doors. By then, "Praying" had already come out, at least, but her struggle had been intense and long before that. As I said on Twitter: I hope YOU find your peace, Kesha. You've fought for it.
