Beyonce

Beyonce looked SO GOOD, even though we could only really see her top third. Just Beyonce speaking to me out of my TV screen was soothing. (She won the Humanitarian Award, and her speech was excellent.)

Michelle Obama

Also soothing to me was Michelle Obama, and her very on-trend lipstick.

Amanda Seales

Amanda Seales hosted the show -- from home, with a green screen, and did a great job period, but especially under the circumstances. All the clothing she wore was by Black designers, per Bryon Javar, her stylist. I'm still collecting credits on all of them and will update when I get them. This dress is AMAZING.

Amanda Seales

This has a real Dionne in Clueless vibe -- which is, of course, a compliment.

Amanda Seales in Pyer Moss

This may have needed a teeeeny bit of hemming, but you know. It's a pandemic. People cannot do last minute hemming.

Amanda Seales

Amanda was also really well-accessorized.

Amanda Seales

And this is the DREAM LOOK of early 90s Teen Me.

in Sergio Hudson

This is really glam and also, again, round of applause for the green screen folks. This was all in her home! Technology is magic!

Amanda Seales

This is a very cute -- and again, fairly 90s -- party dress.

Amanda Seales

This pattern is DIVINE!

Amanda Seales in Pyer Moss

This, and the next Pyer Moss piece, is great.

Amanda Seales in Pyer Moss

See?

Amanda Seales

It's not an awards show unless SOMEONE is draped in sheers at some point.

Amanda Seales

I would say I saw like....70% of the show, and I must have been in the other room during this part because I cannot tell you why there is a toilet there.

Amanda Seales in Dapper Dan

I am ALWAYS a sucker for the moment where the person who is only on-screen from the waist up reveals that she is wearing slippers.

Chloe x Halle

Chloe x Halle's performance was great, AND brought us two looks, this sexy black latex situation, and....

Chloe x Halle

This sportier situation that gave me vague TLC vibes.

Jennifer Hudson in Reem Acra

Jennifer sounded great AND looked great, which is an excellent one-two.

Wayne Brady

This was a salute to Little Richard -- there's a little bit of logistical practicing on his Instagram -- and ergo the lamé suit makes sense...but it makes sense to me regardless.

I am so annoyed I missed this, the kick-off performance of the night as Public Enemy (well, Chuck D and Flavor Flav, so I guess original Public Enemy; I'm a little confused about who official Public Enemy is now because I thought they had a falling out about Bernie) united with a variety of other artists to perform a new version of "Fight the Power," that, per Rolling Stone, referenced "the Black Lives Matter movement and the protests that have been occurring across the country for weeks in response to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade and other Black victims killed by police officers." Rolling Stone has the video and a good story about this.

Masego

Sir, I need to know more about your plants!

John David Washington

I enjoyed John David Washington's tight tee shirt and I thought you might, too.

DJ Khaled

"Yes, it's summer, but a fireplace back-drop is ALWAYS in season."

Meghan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion looks totally cute here, and her performance was GREAT.

Lizzo in Monot

I love this outfit on Lizzo and I also love that Lizzo is accepting her award next to the photo that's on her album cover.

Naomi Campbell

Do you think they were annoyed when they got Naomi's iPhone footage and she hadn't turned the phone horizontal? You cannot call Naomi Campbell and ask for a reshoot!
